The Texans have too many holes to fill to be a contender next year. Therefore, I am making a modest proposal. I am calling on the Texans to tank the whole season. If tanking is an option for the Rockets, then it should be an option for the Texans as well. Because the first pick in the NFL draft goes to the team with the worst record, it's important that we begin our tanking the very first week of the season. I would also suggest that the Texans lose all their pre-season games. We can't afford taking the chance that the team would develop a winning attitude leading into the regular season. We need to lose all our scrimmages too. Now, I know some of you will say that it won't be fun to watch the Texans lose every week, but you have to think long term. If we can just get that number one pick I know that will make us a contender. You can't win a super bowl without multiple superstars. Schaub and Mario and Cushing are all good players, but we need more great players.
Come on, every team that even makes it to the final 4 has at least one seemingly giant deficiency on their team. Nobody is perfect. The off-season is still VERY young, and it is foolish to pronounce the Texans, who just had their best year ever, dead before the freakin' draft.
I'll do you one better, we should tank for TWO seasons. Why risk it? We should tank until the Super Bowl comes back to Houston and win it big, no matter the wait. The more seasons we tank, the probability of winning the Super Bowl approaches 1. It's flawless mathematically.
A decade of #1 overall picks, imagine that. The team will be ready to go just before Andre Johnson calls it quits.
