So, to make sure I understand you correctly (I was a bit snarky before and I apologize for that...but I think what you are posting is kind of non-sensical), your suggestion for eliminating mental mistakes is by watching film and practice? I assume you mean watching MORE film and having MORE practice, right? Because I guarantee you that all the players already watch film and already practice, so I don't see how what you are suggesting is really a solution at all.
The talent is definately there, but last season really solidified that not only is our players growing and going through the learning phase since we are a relatively young team but so Gary Kubiak. When he was hired here, he had ZERO head coaching experience and its obvious hes still learning the job on how to run a team and make critical decisions at crucial times. Last year, he alone probably cost us 3 games because of things that never should have happened. Ryan Moats fumble in Indy and letting the clock expire into the 2 minute warning, and the chris brown half back pass are two polarizing events that stick out in my head. You can argue that was Shannys call, but Kubiak should have overridden that, he saw first hand what happens when skill players with no experience in such plays can be a disater in Reggie Wayne who FAILed a couple games prior. Its not just some of the play calls but sticking with the Boneheaded Browns and not exhibiting the confidence a leader should portray during crucial big play moments by turning his back to the field because he's afraid what might happen. I was really hoping for someone like Cowher to come here in the offseason because he has the experience and knows what it takes to win and can establish a winning culture. Its really frustrating because our team is so young and talented from top to bottom, the roster, the coach, the GM, but because of this I think our inexperience at all levels of our organization can really prohibit this team from taking our next steps forward. Despite this I'm still a die-hard Texans fan. Every season feels like THE SEASON, and this one coming up feels like the biggest. I'm hoping we do grow (especially you Kubiak) and make it to the playoffs
Top 4 Things needed 1) CB 2) DT or DE 3) OG or OT 4) S Wants... I'd like the Texans to go after DJ from KC to fill the weakside LB. Seems like a good fit with speed. Another RB. It is scary any time Slaton is running the ball and not in the good way. Brown is beyond scary.
True...but you operate under the premise that great teams almost always improve or stay same and that simply is not true. They can get worse. San Diego Chargers -- They'll lose LT for sure and possibly Cromartie on defense. They don't have deep pockets so expect them to place all their chips in the draft. This game is winnable. Denver Broncos -- Denver has no chance. Baltimore Ravens -- Damn good football team. Both sides of the ball. Probably a loss for the Texans. Dallas Cowboys -- This game will have too much emotion and Reliant Stadium will be rocking. Texans win this game on pure adrenaline. Chiefs & Giants -- Win Win. Is anyone going to say these 2 teams are better than the Texans? Really? The Giants game is a push but I still give the edge to the Texans. New York Jets -- REDEMPTION! F U Rex Raiders & Redskins -- Win Win. Having a hard time finding what is so scary about these teams. Philadelphia Eagles -- Loss. Eagles rape. Jacksonville Jaguars -- Win Win Tennessee Titans -- Win Loss Indianapolis Colts -- Win Loss 12-4 Homer? Eh maybe. But we do possess some of the best young ready-for-primetime players on defense and one of the better offensive units in the league. What happens if we add a Julius Peppers or an early round DB or two. How about Slaton & OD coming back with a vengeance next season? Nothing about this schedule scares me. I'm ready for some damn football. Sadly it is 6 months aways.
CB *2 FS DL *DE+DT OL *T+G+C RB #2 WR i'm sorry, but this team is no where near a 13 game winning team, that's what N.O. had last year if i'm not mistaken. we're nowhere near N.O. nor IND. IMO, except our passing game and linebackers are exceptional.
The only game the Texans win against the NFC is the Redskins. Two losses to the Colts. Two losses to the Titans. Split with the Jags. Loss to the Ravens, Jets and Chargers. Sorry bud. 12-13 wins is out of the question.
Sunday February 28, 2010 till this day....I can not get out of mind how Chris Jenkins(Jets DT) tossed(and I do mean tossed ) Chris Meyers to the side like a ragdoll without momentum!!
Texans could easily split with the Colts, split the Titans, sweep Jags, smoke the Jets, sneak by the Ravens and upset the Charges. And beat the entire NFC east. I'm not saying this will happen, but that it is possible. I'll save you the poor attempt at dismissing this because I am a homer, because I'm not. putting 12-13 wins 'out of the question' is not being very objective either.
You forgot singlehandedly (as in 1 arm only). The NFC east all have teams who are as jekyl&hyde as the Texans. The Eagles have an even worse offense/defense disparity than the Texans, and it should be a shootout. The Redskins will have a fresh coach and probably a rookie QB, and Texans should have learned their lesson. Shanahan's Broncos was one of the worse for giving up passing TDs 2 years ago, and the Redskins D shouldn't be making a NYJ jump under Haslett. Cowboys should be fun to watch win or lose, and the Giants still need to re-establish their D. Don't they still have CC Brown? I think Texans can come out of the NFC east with a dominant record.
Wouldn't mind the Texans plucking Antrel Rolle and putting him in the secondary along with Pollard thus filling a need and allowing us to draft BPA at number 20: CB or RB. I think RB might be a better fit for the spot than CB as there are a couple that could be had in the second. RB: Round 1 - Spiller, Best, Mathews Round 2 - Dwyer, Gerhart CB: Round 1 - Haden (pipe dream), Kyle Wilson, Round 2 - Patrick Robinson, Perrish Cox, Devin McCourty Round 3 - Syd'Quan Thompson, Donovan Warren, Brandon Ghee, Kareem Jackson, Javier Arenas
Sadly, he isn't joking. P.S. As a BBS public service, avoid responding to DD in all Texans related threads from now on.
1.) Better execution and decision making in the clutch from players and coaches. 2.) Some good luck. 3.) A new coach if things turn to **** in 2010. 4.) A new GM if things turn to **** in 2010.
1) We need Earl Thomas to play cornerback well 2) We need Amobi to shed his baby teeth 3) We need at least one solid interior OL pickup 4) We need a running back that can hold onto the ball
I just don't see that happening. They are now depleted at CB and you don't get a rookie to play shut down his first year. There are growing pains. They need more of a pass rush. They need a RB that can pound and hold onto to the ball. They need to be consistent. They can't play half-ass and then try to play catch-up or blow leads. They lost five games last year on the last play of the game. And that brutal schedule will not allow for free passes or easy wins. I see this team winning 8-10 games. 12 or 13 is dreaming.
