Since Donald Sterling is a notorious cheapskate and the Clippers are probably DOA, perhaps Morey can finagle Maggette for our driftwood.
Yeah honestly, this team is now in the pits. Without Livingston and Brand for the first half of the season, they will rely on Maggette, Mobley, and Cassell. That's not so solid considering Cassell's age and Mobley losing speed. To NBA Dish this must go!
Even though they signed Knight, they still could use another PG. Both Cassell & Knight are old and injury-prone. Clippers still have a neeed for a durable starting point and frontcourt help. If the Rockets are willing to part with Alston there is a trade scenario where the Rockets can cut over $2 million off their books. Clippers are desperate now. It really depends on how desperate the Rockets get to minimise LT for Cassell's expiring contract to be a possibility.
It doesnt really matter. It gives us 4 wins, it gives other teams 4 wins. There is no point to this thread. Brand being hurt doesnt really help us, they weren't going for a high playoff spot anyway.
Damn...The Clippers really are cursed. Give their fans a year of hope then implode. Again. Even if Brand is available in January I wouldn't expect to see the "real" Brand this season. It's not like he can practice or work out in that boot. I actually thought this was a whole season type injury. Maybe I'm thinking NFL and the injury policy they have. The out for year thing.
Ya no kidding. I bet he's counting his blessings that he made this close call. However, just wait until he experiences one of T-Mac's annual (although minor) injuries. 'cross fingers'
I think if anyone thinks that Brand will be back sometimes during the next season they are just kidding themselvs. In basketball there is a lot of back peddling and starting and stoping which is probably harder on the achillies than anything else. Does anyone remember the Mo Taylor injury right after he signed his new contract with the Rockets? It happened about the same time of the year as the Brand injury with about the same diagnosis for recovery and time. We kept hearing all year how Mo was ahead of schedule and he might be back by the all star break but it never happened. Greg Ellis hurt his about 10 months ago and if he had to play a game tomorrow I don't think the Cowboys would let him. He has made one practice unless he practiced today. When Brand does come back it will take him some time to regain his explosiveness if he ever regains it. Dan Marino never recovered any of his mobility when he ruptured his. Kevin Smith was one of the top cover corners in the NFL (and very young) before he tore his and he never regained his quickness or exlposivness.
Hmm, so I'm guessing the NBA docs who say he's out 6 months don't really know what they're talking about then. I wasn't a math major, but that would mean he would be slated to return February, then let's give him a month as a setback and just say March is when he returns. So that's a month and a half of basketball left, and he could help the Clips vastly if they're still competing for the eighth spot then, though it's unlikely.
OK, so how many times have we seen someone come back from a ruptured achilles in 6 months to play proffesional sports? Yes the Doc is lying. He is being overly optimistic. So do you really think he will be back by February? If so I want some of the cool aid you have been drinking.
These threads are bad luck, don't we have enough problems with Yao's feet and Tmac's back? Karma people...KARMA !! DD
these injury reports are just freaking me out........... Whoever they are , even XXXXed up like Desmond Mason , just dont get hurt.... BTW, a 4-0 over the clippers next season wont count if Elton aint playing ...
Well first off, he may not be sidelined all season for this alone! He has a chance for a return in February if he is lucky. Brand or no Brand...we should win season series anyway!
