You know what I find most shocking about our mutual enjoyment of Chipotle? If I recall correctly, we both abhor cilantro which they use an awful lot (in the rice, in the pico, in the corn).
Me and the pick-up game group have gathered there a few times to catch a UH game or something similar. Not a bad place for viewing, as long as the manager doesn't get all b****y about changing the channel.
Man, I wish I hadn't stopped playing basketball after I left A&M.....maybe I'd still be halfway decent and in better shape. If that's the case, we could always go to D&B for a game...I have some nice hookups there (went for the game last night....2 shots, about 8 tall beers (could be more, I lost track)...$13 check). They're always willing to change the channel when I ask. Pugs
Ok well.. As I sit here slowly recovering from yet another case of selective amnesia, I have come to the following conclusion: After finishing the $4.20 burrito from Freebirds, I now remember why I maybe go to that place maybe once every year or two - just plain nasty. Maybe it's the location (1960@Cutten)but I have been there maybe 4 or 5 times over the years, and not one time have I ever thought to myself 'Wow that was great, I want to go back there soon.'. Alas, time passes, memory fades, and I start to think, 'Well, it can't be as bad as I am thinking.' So I make the trek again, and my amnesia melts away, and I remember yet again what I already knew. Yuck. Then thoughts follow on along this thread, and linger on Chipotle. Chipotle, I will go to maybe once every 6 weeks or so, much more often than Freebirds (which will probably be never again). Chipotle is always good, it's fresh, hot and tasty. I always get the Barbacoa, so I cannot speak to the quality of the steak, chicken or carnitas. But I like it. Used to eat there a lot more often, but.. Bullritos opened up in the same general vicinity. Tried that, and quite frankly, it is better than Chipotle, I have tried all the various meats, they are all good (but the carne guisadas is my fave), and oh yeah they have chips & queso, which Chipotle inexplicably does not. I hit Bullritos about every other week. I have no experience with Mission though, so I cannot offer a judgment there. Therefore, my ranking is: Bullritos = clear #1 Chipotle = respectable #2 Freebirds = feed it to felons in the pen. Mission = Insufficient data
Damn, I just came back from Argentina Cafe, which was great, but had I read about the 4.2 deal, would have made my way there instead
If you like freebirds more than Chipotle, then you like Hitler more than Ann Landers. (Sorry, just wanted to get Godwin's Law out of the way first and foremost)
I think some of y'all just don't know how to order the burritos right. If you hate Freebirds then I'm pretty sure you're doing it wrong.
Every poster here needs to read this and order two tacos or a salad anytime they are coerced to any of these. A 2 lb. burrito is not a sensible lunch.
When speaking about "time", please use "THEN." When speaking about comparison, as in the second instance in your post, please use "THAN". "Pac-man was popular and then Zelda came into existence. In my opinion, Pac-Man was always more popular than Zelda." I first tried Chipotle and then I tried freebirds. I like both equally right now, but I like Whataburger more than McDonalds, sir.
