Would you say Shephard will be as good as Steph Curry? Or did you mean his bro Seth Curry, who Reed Shephard is more likely to become?
Because not everybody is as good as Fred Van Vleet? How many 5'11 guys became all stars? The risk is extremely high with Reed because with his size and shortness he won't be able to do anything else if he doesn't become as good as FVV or Steph Curry. Look at Amen. We are betting the shot will eventually come but even if it doesn't he will still be a good player thanks to his height, athleticism and bball IQ. If Reeds shot doesn't translate or is just average (36%) then he sucks ass. 6'1 with 6'3 wingspan and not athletic you can't count on him to do anything, I don't even know if he will still be a good defender or just get bullied.
Bronny James: Height (without shoes): 6’1.50” Standing reach: 8’2.50” Wingspan: 6’7.25” Hand length: 8.50 inches Hand width: 9.50 inches
Naw I'm not predicting Sheppard or really any draft prospect ever will be as good as Steph outside of maybe a Wemby level lock. I think somewhat realistic downside is TJ McConnell-ish and somewhat realistic upside is FVV and Conley-ish with maybe shorter/quicker/better instincts Divencenzo as a baseline. Most drafts I don't want that picking at 3 but with this draft supposedly being weak and that profiling to fit well off the bench now and long term well with some of our other prospects I'd be happy with that if that's who we pick.
Well I won't be happy getting DiVincenzo, top 3 is top 3 you can find at least 3 with star potential even in a weak draft. I'm willing to bet Cody Williams will be a better player than Reed Sheppard when all is said and done.
One thing about all those guys except maybe Donte (who is much bigger than Sheppard) is that they're great passers. My understanding is that, as he is right now, Sheppard is really more of a shooting guard and a functional passer than a guy who is going to get you 10+ assists per 100 possessions. Now granted, Fred developed that part of his game over time, and he was not nearly as good as he is now when he first came into the league. Maybe Reed can develop into a much better playmaker.
Not moved. Sorry, Ben Simmons and Carmelo Anthony killed the hype of offseason videos, offseason workouts and ruined it for the rest of these guys. I can’t take them seriously. Not even the latest Amen drop of him shooting threes. Not moved.
I mean those are better then Fred’s measurements and Fred is a career 36% 3PT shooter lol Sheppard will never be a switchable defender, but like Fred, his hands and IQ are insanely good. On the playmaking point from Orem, 4.5 assists with 2 turnovers in 28mpg as a freshman with another backcourt PG he had to share with isn’t bad at all, historically college PGs assist rates translate to be higher in the NBA as well
Yeah but there's also been lots of players who are taller than Fred and suck more than him. It's not an indication of anything because like I said FVV is an outlier. People like him usually aren't more than end of bench role players. You are basically betting RS will be in the 0.01% of 6'1 players in the NBA. Why would you even bet on outliers when CW, Risacher and Topic are there? These 3, can also bust but given their size and length they are more sure picks than RS.
FVV would be the exception though. Not many players have FVV's work ethic, otherwise this man would not be in the league today.
