I think the biggest problem of Obamacare is affordability. Obamacare is not affordable at all for folds receiving no subsidies. I logged into our state's healthcare marketplace, boy, the cost of those plans astronomical (yes, I exaggerate a little bit but you get the point).

Everyone loves to have issuance with lower premium, deductible and lower maximum out of pocket cap, etc. We are not arguing those benefits are bad. The problem is Obamacare only provide them to those with heavy subsidies while a lot of ordinary ppl's cost is going up, Do you really think it is sustainable?

This is going to get ugly before we go to the inevitable single-payer option. Trump care won't pass. Obama care will get repealed. **** will hit the fan. America will be put on blast around the world. We'll be embarrassed into single-payer. Similar to how we were embarrassed into civil rights.

And then things will truly get ugly but it'll then be too late to ever do anything about.

Exapnd the pool, the better the care.

If you are referring to VA healthcare, understand the pool consistent of war veterans that just experienced a decade of war. I know as a rear echelon vet, you probably didn't experience the full brunt of the medical impact on the veteran community the two wars have caused in the past decade, but covering a pool of combat war vets is expensive. Expand the pool to the general population, more affordable care.

No, but I have seen my parents in medicare, which seems to work just fine for them. Are you saying that just every other developed nations can create a viable single payer system but here in the USA we are not competent enough to do it? Even when medicare is considered to be better than private health insurance system?

Other nations don't have the same circumstances that we have here in the US and on top of that, we won't have an America to send our sickest patients to when the quality of care necessarily goes to crap once it is socialized. What we'll get for the most part is VA quality care which means it'll be cheap (for the individual anyway), but it'll be pretty awful quality for the most part.

Anyway, I'm getting to the point where I don't care anymore. Much like with Trump, I say if people are stupid enough to think going down this path is the right thing to do, they deserve what is going to happen to them.

Another person who doesn't understand how healthcare works. In the VA healthcare system, the cost to cover a pool of people who just experienced a decade long war is significantly less cost effective and efficient than if that pool merged with the general population pool.

Someone repeat this to Booby. I think he has me on ignore.

What is your ideal healthcare system and can you point to a case study of it working?

We are not talking about making the government run the whole health care system, which they are doing for VA. We are only talking about the insurance part, which medicare have been doing a good job of for decades.

Eventually we will be. Much like insurance companies left markets rather than offer Obamacare policies, you'll have doctors and hospitals doing the same which will lead to shortages of healthcare options. When these shortages happen, the government will then step up and start providing it and it's just a matter of time before they end up having to provide all base level healthcare for those on the crappy single payer system.

For some reason folks who call themselves fiscal conservatives prefer for Medicare to fix those more expensively.

Of course he can't. He doesn't even understand the current system or, frankly, anything about healthcare economics.

Are you capable of an original thought or merely a slave to what other people tell you?

Trump and republicans say ACA is in collapsing, in a death spiral. Trump's government (HHS) disagrees.
