It's much worse than that as the GOP undermining ACA starts way before Trump....

Republicans' fingerprints are all over Obamacare premium increases

The dynamic of Republicans undermining the ACA and then pointing to resulting rate increases as proof that it must be repealed predates President Trump. For years, Republicans have refused to fund so-called risk corridor payments at the level required by the ACA. Those payments were designed to help encourage more insurers to offer plans in the exchanges by compensating them for some of the risks associated with setting prices in a new market. If the rates insurers set for their plans were too low to cover their risk pool — for example, if their new customers turned out to be sicker than expected — the federal government would make payments to mitigate their losses. Companies that made unexpectedly large profits would contribute to the fund, and the federal government would make up the rest.

By intentionally not funding this program designed to help offset the risks caused by more high risk folks, they caused premiums to rise higher than needed.

CBO and JCT estimate that, in 2018, 14 million more people would be uninsured under H.R. 1628 than under current law. The increase in the number of uninsured people relative to the number projected under current law would reach 19 million in 2020 and 23 million in 2026. In 2026, an estimated 51 million people under age 65 would be uninsured, compared with 28 million who would lack insurance that year under current law. Under the legislation, a few million of those people would use tax credits to purchase policies that would not cover major medical risks.

This new CBO score reminds me of when I went to go see Suicide Squad. I knew it was going to be bad, but I went in thinking it might be okay for some people.... However....holy crap was that a Hot piece of garbage.

I'd rather defend Suicide Squad than defend the GOP right now with their "Repeal and Go F Yourself" Bill.

According to the CBO, about one-sixth of the total U.S. population could be at risk if they have preexisting problems. Those patients would generally live in red states.

Under the GOP plan, the report states, "about one-sixth of the population resides in areas in which the nongroup market would start to become unstable beginning in 2020." To break that down: The "areas" the report refers to are mostly red states, and the "nongroup market" refers to people who do not have health insurance through an employer or through the government. And "unstable" means that people in those two categories who have preexisting medical problems might no longer be able to buy insurance. Eventually, according to the report released Wednesday, markets in those states would resemble markets before Obamacare was implemented. Less healthy consumers would not be able to afford coverage, because insurers would be able to examine their medical histories and charge them more if they were likely to need expensive treatment in the future.

New Fox News poll: most oppose replacing ACA, and most see ACA as being a net benefit to the country.

Forty percent of Americans approve of the Republican effort to replace the Affordable Care Act, while 53 percent are opposed. More than half of all voters, 53 percent, also said ObamaCare has so far been a net benefit for the country.

Poll: 57% disapprove of GOP health care bill

A Quinnipiac University poll released Thursday found that a wide majority of voters -- 57% to 20% -- disapprove of the Republican health care bill. Those numbers are virtually identical to public sentiment both shortly after the bill passed the House in early May and back in March when an attempt to pass an earlier version failed. The poll provides little comfort to anxious Republicans looking to 2018 and remembering Democrats' 2010 midterm losses after their successful attempt at health care reform. Just 17% of independent voters say they are more likely to vote for a member of Congress who supports the bill, while 41% say it would make them less likely to support that member. Voters disapprove of President Donald Trump's handling of health care by large margin -- 62% to 32% -- and half of them think he should not support the repeal effort.

Latest update from the do-nothing republican congress... they don't expect to come up with a republican senate plan for the Affordable Care replacement plan this year. The new word of the day (other than "complicated" as in "Who knew healthcare was so complicated") is "parameters" as in no plan.

Richard Burr (R-N.C.), one of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-Ky.) most loyal allies, said Thursday it’s “unlikely” the GOP will get a healthcare deal. “I don’t see a comprehensive healthcare plan this year,” he told a local news station. Senate Republicans hoped to have a draft bill this week, but it now looks like that will at best by an outline of parameters. A Senate Republican aide said it’s too early to begin drafting legislation that can come to the floor in the next few weeks. “Parameters are more likely,” said the aide, ho explained that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) wants to keep the details held closely so the legislation doesn’t get picked apart before lawmakers have a chance to consider it carefully.

More unhelpful news came in the form of a Kaiser Family Foundation poll underscoring how unpopular the bill approved by the House is.
It found that three-quarters of Americans surveyed think the House bill does not fulfill President Trump's promises on healthcare. A full 82 percent said federal funding for ObamaCare’s expansion of Medicaid should be continued, an issue that deeply divides the Senate GOP. The House bill ends the ObamaCare funds in 2020. Yet another factor for Republicans is Trump’s approval rating, which has fallen to its lowest point with Republicans since he took office in the Reuters/Ipsos tracking poll.

Republican Senate leaders may strike an initial deal on health care legislation to dismantle Obamacare in the coming days. But don't expect to see what the bill would actually contain. Poll: Opposition to GOP health bill is on the rise

As the GOP-led Senate prepares to take up the measure, only 35 percent of voters surveyed approve of the bill passed by the House last month. Nearly half of voters, 49 percent, disapprove of the bill. The other 16 percent don’t know or don’t have an opinion, the poll shows. Among Republican voters, 30 percent disapprove of the GOP health care bill. That is up from 15 percent of Republicans disapproving in early May.
Moreover, independent voters disapprove of the bill by a 2-to-1 margin: 26 percent approve, versus 53 percent who disapprove.

Only 27 percent think it will make the U.S. health care system better, compared to 41 percent who think it will make the system worse. Just 17 percent think it will decrease costs for them and their families, while 46 percent think costs will increase.

Nearly two-thirds of voters, 65 percent, say they want Republicans to “compromise with Democrats to reach bipartisan reforms.” Only 18 percent want the GOP to “work only with other Republicans in Congress to achieve reforms.” Even among GOP voters, a 54-percent majority wants the party to work across the aisle on the final product.

Doesn't matter. GOP will slam their version down the throat of all American.

I wonder if there has ever been a massive bill done in secrecy with no allowance for the other side to be involved and no debate what so ever. Another extreme precedent in the making. Today GOP is again showing that they are extremist party.

Passing the bill through Senate will be good photo op for everyone.

Where's that picture of Trump and other fat old white guys gloating over passing Mean Bill through the house?

Maybe the plan is for Trump to be so toxic among his own party by 2018 to the point where getting stabbed in the back by him during elections is a badge of honor.
