    If you really really want your data 2 decades ago, you can Wonder Aloud to one of our esteemed intel agencies, and that info will mysteriously be delivered on the doortsteps of an orphanage wrapped tightly in baby clothes.

    It's like St. Peter at the Pearly Gates but creepier!

    I have a confession. During the 1990s I was such a Houston homer that anything affiliated with the Rockets was manna to me. So Compaq was the computer of choice for me and I was so sad when HP bought them. I miss when I was content just staring at the shadows on the wall.

    This is less to do with pages disappearing. But I'm reminded of the time when Adobe FLASH was ubiquitous on websites. Flash was bad with security and was very inefficient in using resources. Anyways, as sites evolved to HTML5 and other things, any old pages that never modernized would likely not load; even if some of it is archived on sites like WayBack Machine.
