You know, the people who like to enjoy specialty coffee and a good book while keeping to themselves.

It's soooooo ridiculous. Just like those tiny shirt-wearing, bling bling laden, spiky-haired, fake 'n baked, metrosexual goons. Same thing, really.

Yea, the Starbucks people don't bother me at all (unless they are wearing a beret or something). I mean, they just sit there.

The guido/douchebags...can't stand them. And their "brah's".

What's wrong with people sitting by themselves reading a book?

I mean, I don't like Starbucks, but I have sat in a bookstore before looking at a book before buying.

I don't get the connection between that and the Red Oompa Loompa up there??

As a consultant, I live on the road 4 days out of the week.
I have 3 options on places to work: The client's office, My hotel room, and a Cafe.

I prefer to not be in an office if I don't have to.
The hotel room gets isolated and lonely after a while of looking at furniture that's not yours.
I can get a good cup of coffee or tea while enjoying free internet at several cafes.

all that means i'm the guy in the cafe you hate. it's ok, i hate you too for judging me.

D-bags are constantly looking around and talking loudly (to fellow d-bags or on their cell phone) making sure everyone is aware they are in the room.

Coffee shop campers usually have their head buried in their laptop or book. Big difference.

Uh yeah, I get it. Those people who are all quietly keeping to themselves with a book or their laptop are looking for attention, exactly the same as those peacocks.

I will say people who are writing a screenplay or a novel at Starbucks are probably hoping somebody asks them "what are you writing," but that's about it.

To the bad boy with the PAID OFF 2002 Honda Accord: Some people legitimately prefer spending more on their cars than their houses early in their career. I don't really understand it, but I don't care enough to make assumptions about them either.

I'd never drink anything from Starbucks, but I still don't see the connection between sitting and reading at a Starbucks and somehow being part of some bad group.

I used to live in an apartment complex where there were lots of expensive cars... rent was around $800-$900/month I think. But there was a reason there were so many expensive cars in there... tons of IT contractors that were straight up banking lived there. When I was contracting, I didn't want a house. I wanted to be able to live close to my job and wanted to be able to pick up and leave when I got a new contract. One of the guys there was a SAP/manager consulting-type getting paid $200-$300/hr by Blockbuster (I think). He drove a nice Lexus. Several of the others there worked for him. He often flew from city to city doing these gigs.

Anyway, I don't think you can judge people by the car they drive or where they live... whether it be positively or negatively. They could be crack dealers or frugal people. Hehe.

Ok i'll play Ziggy's advocate. I think there is a crowd who thrives more on you thinking they're intelligent/artsy/cool (via thumbing through books at coffee shops) than the actual enjoyment of reading. There is definitely a word for them but it isn't douchebag.

I used to be this guy... I drove an expensive car and lived in an apt complex that was walking distance to my office in Austin... why? Because I was in my early 20s - was making great money - and wanted to live near the office rather than in a subdivision about 30 miles away with neighbors in their <shudder> 30s, 40s, and 50s </shudder>

I wasn't a credit card millionaire. I could have afforded a house if I wanted one - but I wanted to live near my office around people of my own age.

You're way off on this one.
