i just had the same thought... i can't take it anymore. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaggggggggghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!
They have plenty: Pippen (expires next year), Jerome Williams, Eddie Robinson, Antonio Davis. All these guys have pretty big contracts.
Maybe the Suns trading the #7 gives validity to the report that T-Mac wouldnt re-sign with any team but Houston. I'm thinking Phoenix realized this and essentially screw it, and bowed out.
It just took a turn for the worse for me.. These guys are now talking about how Yao is going to LA in 2007 for sure.. "in the meantime, he can pretend he's a Houston Rocket".. "everyone knows Yao is coming to LA in 2007" And now the guy is doing a mini stand-up routine on: how Texas is the "Chris Farley's armpit of america" He likes certain parts of Texas, "like arizona" He thinks we should sell off everything south of Dallas. hilarious.
How about this scenario. If anyone can afford to take a gamble on Grant Hill, its Portland. Houston trades: PG Steve Francis (16.6 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 6.2 apg in 40.4 minutes) C Kelvin Cato (6.1 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 1.0 apg in 25.3 minutes) SG Cuttino Mobley (15.8 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 3.2 apg in 40.4 minutes) Houston receives: SG Reece Gaines (1.8 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 1.1 apg in 9.6 minutes) PG Tyronn Lue (10.5 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 4.2 apg in 30.7 minutes) PF Juwan Howard (17.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 2.0 apg in 35.5 minutes) SG Tracy McGrady (28.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 5.5 apg in 39.9 minutes) Change in team outlook: +18.8 ppg, -0.3 rpg, and +2.4 apg. Orlando trades: SG Reece Gaines (1.8 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 1.1 apg in 9.6 minutes) PG Tyronn Lue (10.5 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 4.2 apg in 30.7 minutes) PF Juwan Howard (17.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 2.0 apg in 35.5 minutes) SG Tracy McGrady (28.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 5.5 apg in 39.9 minutes) SG Grant Hill (28.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 5.5 apg in 39.9 minutes) Orlando receives: C Kelvin Cato (6.1 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 1.0 apg in 69 games) SG Cuttino Mobley (15.8 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 3.2 apg in 80 games) PG Damon Stoudamire (13.4 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 6.1 apg in 82 games) PF Shareef Abdur-Rahim (16.3 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 2.0 apg in 85 games) Change in team outlook: -5.7 ppg, +6.1 rpg, and -0.5 apg. Portland trades: PG Damon Stoudamire (13.4 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 6.1 apg in 38.0 minutes) PF Shareef Abdur-Rahim (16.3 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 2.0 apg in 31.6 minutes) Portland receives: PG Steve Francis (16.6 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 6.2 apg in 79 games) SG Grant Hill (28.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 5.5 apg in 67 games) Change in team outlook: -13.1 ppg, -5.8 rpg, and -1.9 apg. TRADE ACCEPTED
Part history of the grimy refinery image (oil days of the 70's/80's), and part perception (things have changed and they don't know it; see Super Bowl).
I just saw the draft special on ESPN and Jim Gray just reported that Houston is where tmac is going. That Tmac holds all the cards and that houston is the only place where he will sign an extension.
Why would Francis and his agent let him get traded to Chicago? The Portland one makes sense but not this. I know they don't have super leverage but they were able to get all this into action.
So Orlando's line-up would be: C - Cato PF - Emeka Okafor SF Shareef Abdur-Rahim SG Cuttino Mobley PG Damon Stoudamire Damn, that's nto a bad line-up! That team could make a run at the conference finals!
That IS a good team. Seems like one of the best PF/C defensive duos. That's for sure. Solid offensive from 1,2,3 too!
