Don't even bother, he just wants attention. Tracy, Deke, & Yao will be remembered as not only great Rockets but great PEOPLE. Changing the world and making a difference. That's what really matters. I love the Houston Rockets.
Wow you have problems... You do know that this documentary was filmed a couple of years ago and not just out of the hat. What have you done to make the world a better place? Flaming on Tracy? Please honor the request of the threader and go hate elsewhere.
how is illmatic a member? the only thing I see him do is come into threads and make a trollfest out of it. back to the topic, what tracy mcgrady has done in darfur is amazing. for some reason houston teams usually have tons of class.
i presume it's sarcasm . or he's trying to play devil's advocate? but i question his bball IQ when i read what he had to say about ariza's potential as a player lol
The film was made when McGrady traveled to Chad in about 2007. There was no rehabbing going on back then. I can assure you that all the reports document the fact that he is working his butt off in rehab right now...
Dont worry about Illmatic. Hes the one who called Ariza a FUTURE SUPERSTAR. I had to laugh so hard though!
It's odd that one of the most hated icons in Houston may also be one of the most loved in Darfur. I'm a bit miffed with Tracy's on-court performance, but I admire his sense of service.
The sad thing is all those kids have more heart than him they deserve the 23 Million$. And please dont compare this to Mutomobo who has real heart and is a real hero.
so you judge a person's character by his basketball skills/game? i sincerely hope you are around 8 or 9 years old.
so many trolls... if you would rather tracy mcgrady be rehabbing than helping those in need then you really have no perspective whatsoever on life. what he does on court has nothing to do with this effort whatsoever. some of you seem to be saying that being a bad player necessitates being a bad person. regardless of what you think of t-mac as a player, i don't see how anyone could admonish him for helping build schools.
That John Prendergast is a fraud. He's taking advantage of people's ignorance with his ridiculous explanations and wild statements on the situation in Darfur. I'm sure McGrady couldn't even find Sudan on a blank map. If you want to know what's going on in Sudan, read Mahmood Mamdani's new book. I started a thread about it in the D&D, but interestingly there were no replies: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=171064 Also, here is Mamdani owning Prendergrast in a debate: He backs off his "genocide" claims and straight up lies when he says he's not associated with the Save Darfur coalition. If you go on their website, you can clearly see that he's one of their directors: http://www.savedarfur.org/pages/board What a fraud.
Alright, I came in thinking that I wouldn't bother responding to these posts ....but, really dude?? Really?
Let me tell you something about the Houston Rockets of the Yao-McGrady era. They have all been great guys, with maybe Rafer Alston(he was a bit sketchy off the court) and Ron Artest(he wasn't that bad) as the lone exceptions. Where can you find a team with two superstars without any off the court stories that lead you to question their reputation? Neither Tracy or Yao engage in illegal activities or the such. How many DWI/drug/alcohol abuse/domestic problem cases are leaked about Rockets players? While perhaps McGrady wasn't what was expected on the court this past year, are you really going to sit there and say he fails to do any good? This is a noble cause and the man deserves his props. He could be like so many of us and not do anything at all. However, he made the choice to do something about it. As far as I'm concerned, the past 5 years the Rockets are pretty damn lucky to have had three amazingly classy guys like Dikembe, Yao, and McGrady leading this team. All three should be recognized for their humanitarian efforts. Other teams would be lucky just to have one guy who did anything of this sort...
Great for Tracy, it's good to have people like Mutumbo and Tracy around. Doing something like this will impact the world more than anything he can do on the court.
