3 NYPD detectives cleared in 50-shot killing of groom

What does the date of his wedding have anything to do with whether or not the cops should have been found not guilty?

 

I am also unsurprised. The officers wisely opted for a bench trial when the law is so clearly on their side. There is simply not enough evidence to convict them in this case. The only evidence either way is the testimony of the people involved, which means it comes down to finding that the officers have so little credibility that their testimony does not even raise a reasonable doubt when stacked against that of Bell's friends.

Unfortunately, I would also be unsurprised if the officers are found civilly liable by a jury.

 

They should be found liable. I'm surprised public endagerment didn't at least stick. Besides the obvious overkill of shooting 50 bullets at a car during a prostitution sting, you can't tell me they weren't recklessly putting innocent bystanders in harms way as well.

BTW, what does the speed of shooting 31 shots have to do with anything? Is that really supposed to make me feel better about the judgement used that night? I want to know what the expert in that video was shooting at. It looked like the gun was creeping up higher and higher with each shot. Good thing the officer didn't have a 3rd clip because he might have been putting bullets in 2nd story windows by then.

 

I followed the trial cursorily. Not very indepth. I have read the reports when it happened.

I knew then . .they would not be convicted.
therefore . . i am not surprised

Killing a minority is simply not that big of a deal in this country
The guy in pasadena said he was gonna do to a cop on the phone and then did it and gets off scott free . . . .
so
nothing else surprises me.

The credibility of cops is general beyond reproach
[i.e. if you say you did not run the red light .. they said you did .. . you generally lose]

As long as the Blue Wall stays solid
convicting cops in these cases is very . . .unlikely
just as long as they get their stories str8

You sure about that? One of the ones that survived was apparently shot 16 times. You don't think another 10 or 15 shots might have killed him?

 

QUESTION: When was the last times the cops mistakenly shot and killed a white person reaching for a wallet or a non-existant gun? Shot a white person 30+ times?

Completely agreed. The cops were scared for their lives and acted irrationally. They were so scared they thought they were being shot at when they did all the shooting. Something is wrong with that picture.

I brought this up when this happened...at what point, while squeezing of 30 shots do you as a trained police officer realize no one is shooting back at you?

 

I am trying hard to imagine Obama deliver his "We are one America" speech in this circumstance.
