Difference being that Francis would still be on his max contract had he not been bought out...and I think Francis is still better than Howard ever was.
Billups and Wallace did not get max deals. Both are at about 15 million per season but but neither one signed the maximum 5 or 6 year deals depending on whether or not they resigned with their team (Billups), or another team (Wallace). Also 15 million is not the max per season anyway.
do you have a link saying yao's contract $75~77 ? Also, Amare did get a max, no doubt, he well deserves it.
Mavs actually became a better team without Nash......of cource, untill first round playoff this year.
Mavs only became a better team, because their players got better, not because Nash left. If Cuban had not got uncharacteristically tight, they'd have 2 or 3 championships under their belts right now, with a few more to go, and clearly named the top team of this decade. They were worried about paying him past his prime, which perhaps PHO will end up doing, although it doesn't look like it, but to have the 2 players who have been MVPs the last 3 years ... geez. Even if Nash collapses with old age, it would have been worth 2 or 3 chances at a championship. But, it seems he just keeps getting better. MAJOR CUBAN MISTAKE, and I'm sure he knows it. Opportunities for championships don't come along very often. We're sorta in the same boat. I wonder if our management will do what it takes to give Yao and McGrady the support they need to go all the way, not just one year, but a number? Interesting moves so far, but I don't think they're contender status yet. I'm curious to see what else they do.
Technically he makes more than his max under the CBA, his salary of $15,000,000 from Blazers plus the Rockets salary, is actually MORE than his max under the CBA, which was $16,440,000. So yes actually there are 3 max players.
He deserves it. But I think he wasn't in great condition when he signed it, after he got the contract, he went ahead and had a surgery and sit out for almost a whole year. or did he get injured at a different time?
Salary wise, sure....but if you read that ESPN article about terrible Max contracts a week or two ago I think Stevie's was deemed the least deserving of the money he was getting.
Yeah, I misinterpret the info when they were just talking about estimates.. No, I don't have the link, it was something I remember reading before Yao sign his extension.. And yes, Amare deserve the max, but I was a little surprised Phoenix would give him the contract extension that early consider the fact that they know he has problem with his knee..
They have Nene also, his contract is 60 million/6 years.Ah, forget Camby, who will earn 24 million next 3 years. That's the reason why Denver wants to make some BIG trade to throw away Martin/ Camby.
maybe he was thinking of rasheed wallace instead, doesnt sheed have a large contract as well? i dont think it is a max contract though
