I kinda agree with you there...bout falling back to the retros..i do want an alternate...but I think it should be something a little different from our curent home/away desing (like the Mav's alternate...even though i think they're ugly). I'd really like to see the retro's from this season w/ our current colors...i think that could look pretty decent.
Not that a third uni is that important, but I would hope they would be able to leverage one of the existing colors (silver/grey red and white). Why introduce a new color (eg black). Especially one that is used already by a cross-state rival. And one that was overused by teams. And one that is often perceived to be a thug color. My two cents... stay the course with a silver or gray background with red letters. Looks sharp, distinctive, and (to address the Pats on TV issue), could be darkened enough to show on TV.
I can't think of another team other than the Mavs who have incorporated another color other than the team's existing colors and when you peep most teams with alternate unis they simply accentuate one of the colors that are currently in their uniform color scheme with the exception being the color black. They'll probably go with a shiny silver or the black unis trimmed in red and silver IMO. Alternate unis are a marketing ploy to sell more team merchandise and make the team appear more appealing to not only the team's fan base but also leaguewide and the color black has been proven to be the most popular color from a marketing standpoint. I don't see why everyone hated the Mav's shiny silver alternates they wore a couple of years ago. I loved em and liked how the color appeared different as the light hit them and their current alternates that rapper Puffy designed are hideous (the royal blue and green ones) IMO.
Black is apart of the color scheme...just go check out the second best Rockets site...you know the offical one
I was thinking black with red trim as shown in the top right of Frodo's post. That would be the most badass uniform ever. I'd defnitely buy it if they released that.
As it's been stated many times before, it doesn't make sense for a team named the Rockets that has a history of red uniforms to switch to blue. What if, for instance, UT or the Nebraska Cornhuskers all of a sudden switched to a blue uni? Where's the logic?
It might not have made sense, but it was definitely done from '96 'till '03 as you know. I'll always have a special place for those uniforms in my heart, ha.
