Doesn't the league have a strict dress code nowadays?

    from earlier in this thread:

My preference of these 3 would be:

    1) Brown
    2) Rivers
    3) Dunleavy

However, as long as Jeff Van Gundy is NOT the coach, I guess I will be happy, but it really depends on who finally gets the job.

Ah that's what I get for not reading the first page...

Crazy Joe basically said what I was thinking. IF the Rockets contacted these 2 coaches, I'm fairly certain there would be some word about it in Philly and Orlando...

Dunleavy is crap. He did nothing in Milwakee, and then he had so much talent in Portland, and again did nothing.

Doc Rivcers and JVG are players' coaches. We need a teacher like Larry. Larry knows stuff. He took the Clippers to the Playoffs!!! That must count for something. He made the Pacers a powerhouse in the East. Then Philly was the only team to win a game from the Lakers in '01.

I can see something similar to what happended with the Pacers. Larry sticks around for a couple of years, gets us to the conf. finals, then leaves and somebody else comes in and takes us all the way, and I mean all the way, not like Larry Legend, just to game 7...

Larry is not available as of yet. Ask yourself this, who will Phili replace him with if they let him go? He's under contract, he retires or stays there. Maybe we could work a deal for him, some kind of trade that would make Phili give him up but what would that cost us? Working yourself into a lather over I guy that isn't available is a waste of energy.

I'm not debating Brown. But to say that Dunleavy is crap or did nothing is not true. Let's see, in the 90's how many coaches won titles? Dailey, Tomjanovich, Jackson, Popovich, and maybe again, Popovich.

A coach just lays the ground work. Creates the philosophy. Then, it's up to the players (talent). Did you expect Dunlevey to just click his heals together and wish his team to a championship?

You know, there was this BIG guy in LA that kinda presented a problem.

    1) Brown (Experienced; Balanced style in offense and defense)
    2) Dunleavy (History with Houston, hardworking player)
    3) Rivers (Young, understand the guard postion)
    4) Silas (Wise, mentally tough)
    5) Avery Johnson (the "little general")

P.S. I'm not high on Van Gundy because I don't think he would mesh well with Francis.

To me the new head coach should be somebody who already knows this organization. Kind of like at North Carolina. I really dont wanna see an outsider come in and take this job. However I do like Paul Silas and Mike Dunleavy ( I know he's a former Rocket). Does anybody think John Lucas would be a good coach for this team? I just hope Les and CD choose very carefully.

Hasn't Dunleavy been fired 3 times? I like Larry Brown although I think him a little neurotic. Silas is under-appreciated. Van Gundy could be the man, though. I like Doc, too.

Why do we keep talkin about needing a defensive minded coach.

We need an offensive mastermind. The Defense will always be anchored in the middle by Ming, Eddie, and Cato. We need to get the most out of all the other players not named francis or mobley on the Offensive side of the ball.

We need Don Nelson. I know he's still under contract but what if (and its a real big if) Mark Cuban Doesn't want him back cause the mavs a$$ got handed back to them by Duncan and Co. I would even look into Donnie Nelson for some Offensive minded coaching.
