(Plus Jeffries) Seriously, don't try to defend that decision, it's just unjustifiable. You play against a team whose main advantage are size and rebounding. You don't bench all your big men precisaly in this game. You don't. Period.
How about playing Battier at the PF spot? Was that a brillian move as well? Love is a rebounding monster, you don't put an uthathletic finesse defender against him. All these little things add up.
Pattersen is inconsistent as rookie. Some nights he played well and he rebounded well. When the team is beaten that badly on the boards, it doesn't hurt to play him a few minutes and see if he is on his game. On the other hand, when AB showed he was extremely ineffective on both ends, it doesn't hurt to play him less minutes. RA got both wrong, and he compounded it with his usual unsuccessful play call after TO in game ending situation, the result is a loss to one of the worst team at home. I believe the biggest reason RA can't get a ring is his game ending play calling. His team always chocked in the end, dating from the final against Detroit Pistons in NBA final. For the last couple seasons, I can hardly remember he ran any successful plays after TO in crunch time when the game is on the line, both offensively and defensively.
Adelman plays favorites again! If Patterson was Chinese, he would get 24 minutes a game. Spoiler not serious
I ain't saying he doesn't have problems, and the family (read: mental) problems really alarm me. But saying we shouldn't play him because he can't rebound is pretty ignorant.
I'm very critical of Adelman, but it's not his rotation that bothers me at all. This is one area I think he does a good job.
I started a post to this thread with the intention of bashing the hell out of Hill's rebounding ability. I had even already typed that his rebounding ability was a myth. I did some math to back up this claim and found that he is actually the second best rebounder on the team behind chuck Hayes in terms of minutes to rebounds ratio: Chuck 6.8 rpg / 25.72 mpg = .2643 rebounds per minute Hill 4.5 rpg / 17.71 mpg = .2540 rebounds per minute Scola 8.3 rpg / 33.7 mpg = .2462 rebounds per minute Patterson 2.8 rpg / 13.21 mpg = .2119 rebounds per minute Idk if this is even a real stat but the numbers dont lie, and I never miss an opportunity to bash Jordan Hill. So props to him. To put these numbers into context, Kevin Love averages .4239 rebounds per minute.
