I see him as a backup PF next year, with our big man rotation being Scola/Hill/Patterson/Yao or Miller. For all those who say he's nothing more than a role player, it takes time for big men to develop. He has a good shot on offense and is obviously very smart. No reason why he can't develop Landry-esque offensive game, but enough size to be a good defender at the 4. He may not ever be a superstar, but Patterson seems to have a very reachable ceiling of 16/9 with good-to-great defense.
I think Scola will be traded. Morey clearly said they are thinking long-term and Scola don't fit that remark.
well both chuck and hill were in foul trouble, so someone had to go battle with miller out there. I'm sure he was just out there because of that and none of the showcasing or coach deciding to give him random time. he did really great out there though, good job at moving his feet and getting into position on defense. his only jumpshot was fluid and he shot it confidently.
Patrick got PT today because of foul trouble. Hill, Chuck and Miller all got two fouls early tonight. I'm glad he got some non-blowout time. He did decently when he was on the court... he's still got a ways to go but it was good to see him out there.
My thoughts exactly. It is hard to remember sometimes how old scola is because he came in the league so late, but he is not a long term option. I heard morey in an interview the other day saying they sent 2Pat(love the nickname) down to the dleague because they wanted to make sure that he kept an aggressive mindset on offense rather than settling into a role player mentality. This seems to signal that they see him developing a primary option like scola is in the post.
Brooks got no PT --> Brooks got PT --> Rafer Traded. Simple -> if you can actually play better than the guy you're playing behind, RA finds playing time for you ...
I am all for giving some of Hill's minutes to Patrick in certain situations. He is the intangible Battier at the PF spot. It's not fluke he was a +10 while Hill was a minus 6. Patterson is solid and I always thought he would be the better of the 2. I also thought one of them would overtake Hayes eventually. But man after watching Hayes man up against Griffin. It's going to be a long time before that happens.
I hate that +/- crap, It doesn't tell you the fact that Hill was playing against Griffin, while Pat played against Diogu. Which is a big difference in competition.. ------------- And am I the only one that notice how bad he is at boxing out, he let Diogu get position inside almost every time. He, despite having a solid frame, still doesn't know how to use his body properly to seal out his man. I also have a problem with his athleticism, it seems as though he barely could get off the ground at times. He was not as explosive as advertise, and I know he measured with better athleticism than what his showed out there.(33 in vert and 11'8.5 maximum vert reach) On the bright side; he runs the court great, has very quick feet, and he also looks very fluid with his jump shot. I just think he needs to learn how to use his frame and length on defensive and offensive end(when it comes to defensive rebounding and posting up) a lot more.
