first things first.........pac is the best rapper alive period no contest.......notorious big probably is the only one that comes to close to him but the other rappers are no where near pac or big's level........... here is a verse from [E.D.I.] from the outlawz: song breathin We number one mother****er bout to do it again ****, 'Pac still doin it, you hoes can't ruin it Two million everytime he drop I know you ****ers losin it......... Album: The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory Song: Intro/Bomb First (My Second Reply) In today's music news: the ever controversial Tupac Shakur has just released another album under the alias Makaveli. Music insiders are running wild trying to rearrange other artist street dates, in fear of a wipeout in retail interchart movement. Although no one knows the exact cause of the new album; resources tell me a number of less fortunate rappers have joined together in conspiracy to assassinate the character of not only Mr. Shakur, but of Death Row Records as well. Nas, the alleged ring leader of it, is furious at Tupac excuse me Makaveli's verbal assault on Mobb Sleep, Notorius P.I.G., and several other New York rappers Jay-Z, from "Hawaiian Sophie" fame, Big Little whatever and several other corny sounding mother****ers are understandably shaken up by this release. The question everbody wants to know is -- why'd they get this ***** started? Tupac, rather Makaveli, was not available for comment but released this statement: i think this song came out like 95 or 96 this was the time when nas, jay-z, big and many more were afraid to come out rap because 2pac was runin the game and no one could sell records like he could........2 million records everytime he dropped manne that is insane......go figure.........and also the rap game now days is dead........like nas said hip hop is dead! nas probably the best in the game right now imo. http://www.3rdeyeopen.org/thought/uploaded_images/10yearanniversary-703805.jpg
he's dead, though.......??? In my opinion (and everyone will always have their own taste and opinion).. Nas is the greatest rapper alive, and is definitely up there with Pac and Big. I personally like Nas better than both of them. And a rapper who is WAAAY underrated in these discussions is Rakim. Yes, Rakim is a top 5 artist all-time in my book.
Like Tupac from Digital Underground has ANY room to talk about Jay-Z and Hawaiian Sophie. Its hard to take many rap debates seriously anymore...It usually ends up regionally based and biased towards individual's favorite rapper. And if that rapper had beef with another they take that rapper's side and hate the other rapper, too. Most greatest ever hip hop albums lists usually have Notorious BIG's albums ranked ahead of Tupac's. Jay-Z's generally trail behind them both..Nas's Illmatic almost always included in the top 10. I don't think of Tupac as the greatest. But there's never been a rapper with the blend of depth to his rhymes and hard charisma, no doubt about that...
It's not really arguing. More like stating your opinions because everyone has their own taste in music. It's not like arguing basketball where it's pretty clear who the best teams and players are. And yes, I have my very own strict "classic" ratings scale. I didn't think Blueprint was better or as good as Reasonable Doubt so it's not a classic in my book. Still a great album though. I've listened to American Gangster enough to know that I was really feeling the album. I liked about maybe 2 songs on there and the rest were nothing special. My problem with his last 2 albums is that they don't sound like a "Jay-Z album". It sounds too mainstream/commercial to me. I don't blame him though, he wants to sell records. But anyways, let's get back to the 2Pac appreciation please. This isn't a 2pac vs Jay Z thread or a 2pac vs (insert rapper here) thread. We're here to pay homage to one of the most influential artist of our time. He may not have the great lyrical punchlines like Jay-Z but he didn't need to. He told stories that didn't need metaphors for you to understand and feel. Here's one of 2Pac's best songs that a lot of people probably didn't hear: Soulja's Story
