Yeah... how about a cocktail of any two......... market crash, COVID resurgence and last an international disaster (terrorism/ war in the Middle East or China deciding to start taking land). We would likely be plunged into a global situation unseen in a long time and based on what I have seen from leadership in the USA, Western Europe and China; I would not be optimistic that the intelligence would carry the day..... the American people are not used to this type of situation, they do not handle true large scale suffering well.

This is pretty clear evidence that someone at the Capital had put in request for DC National Guard support, and you have Trump's lackey here directly telling the National Guard to stand down leaving the Capital vulnerable. It says "sure" you can help out, but you really cannot help at all. It's a stand down order essentially when you read the text here. Making the case about the Capital Police's failures will only lead to this inevitable point.
To follow up on the Hitler history lesson here, one concern here is that if the Republicans win the House in 22 which is a very real possibility, they have the ability to vote in Trump as Speaker of the House if the Senate Impeachment does not convict to bar him from office. My understanding is that the Speaker could be anyone as long as they receive the majority of the votes which makes them a member of the House even if they are not elected to a district House seat. Could be wrong there, but I believe that to be the case since there was talk of Beto or Stacy Abrams being voted as Speaker back in 2018. That would have incredibly scary parallels at that point, but I don't think he's got it in him to pull off what Hitler did to get back in government in the #2 spot after going to jail for insurrection. Just sort of frightening to think about, and I'm sure people on the right like Bannon are already thinking about this because of course they are.
