How do you not get this?? the second round the winners of the 2/7 and 3/6 play each other if the 2nd and 3rd seed win their first round matchups then they play each other in the second round with the 2nd seed having Homecourt so why again would you want to be the third seed?
No, its not understandable. How do you understand all the intricacies of tiebreakers and how seeding works and then completely miss the fact that the #2 seed can't play the #1 seed until the WCF? Its just not possible. This guy is either r****ded or he's joking.
I think he means the first round match up is better (i.e. we'd be better off facing NO than Dallas). Either way, I'd rather have HC. @thread
First round or second round? The only predictable difference in the second round matchup is we'll have home court advantage if we're the 2nd seed. What's the argument that the 3rd seed is preferable to the 2nd seed? Spell it out clearly.
Argh. Name any sport that has the #1 seed playing the #2 seed in the 2nd round of a 4 round tournament. How do people become members here these days?
In before the lock?! Why hasn't this thread been locked yet? You can't predict the matchups in the 2/7, 3/6, 4/5 games, so you can't say the 2nd seed is a better matchup than the 3rd seed. All we can say with certainty is that a win tonight guarantees that we don't face the Lakers until the WCF.
The first round match-up or the second round match-up? If we're #2, our second round match-up is Denver. If we're #3, our second round match-up is Denver. I guess you've got to pick your poison. If more people were making fun, I'd give this thread 5 stars. But, since too many people made a genuine effort to explain the brackets, I have to rate it 1 star.
That's a different argument and nobody even knows who the #3 seed will be yet or who they will play in the 1st round. You were originally trying to argue that by getting the 3rd seed, as opposed to the 2nd seed, we would avoid the Lakers in the 2nd round. That isn't true. Anybody seeded 2,3,6 or 7 would avoid the Lakers in the 2nd round if they win in the 1st round.
Yeah, it doesn't matter if they reseed or not, a #1 will never face a #2 until the final game of that part of the bracket.
