I don't see anything on hornets dot com or nba dot com about Chandler's injury. Has anybody heard anything?
I will stick to my prediction from before the series: Hornets in six, with them breaking serve in the sixth game. But I'm most worried about West. He is really gimpy -- does anyone know what his situation is? Okay, great stats, but he kept grimmacing, and in the post-game interview (right on the court), it looked like his entire abdomen had some kind of wrap on it. Sheesh. If he is dinged up, I'm not so sure about game 6.
i didn't watch this game looking at stas paul 14 dimes 1 to team 24 dimes 6 to that looks like your game, those stats are staggering
initial reports that he had a bruised foot but it could be a bruised toe i didnt see anything that could have effected his foot from the way he hit himself. during scott's post game he mentioned tyson's injury as toe, he could have a bruised toe hopefully its nothing as serious as turf toe in football. not having chandler for the rest of this series is huge for the hornets. chandler did want to come back in the game but the trainer wouldnt allow him so i think he may be able to go for game 6. west's injury seems a bit more concerning he was really hurting out there and the fact that he made some of the plays he did (the blocks and drives) with that stiff back is even more amazing. hell of a game last night from him. but scott just said they will have to see how it is today after treatment and workouts. at least from the look it seemed kobe's back injury was more serious than west's, but i am not an expert whatsoever in that. i just hope both are healthy for game 6 on thurs
Whoever wins this series better not get any serious injuries. I need them to beat the Lakers/Jazz. On the flip side, I hope the Lakers and the Jazz beat each other up so badly that nobody can stay on his feet to play the next round.
Those are important (and amazing) stats, but the game was actually decided in the 3rd quarter when the Hornets defense swarmed the Spurs and completely choked their offense. It was a sight to see. Injuries aside, it's so clear this series is the Hornets' for the taking if they have to guts to snatch it and play their best on Thursday. Injuries aside, if the Hornets lose this series, it's because they weren't mentally tough enough to take it. IMO, they missed golden opportunities in games 3 & 4 because they folded up and sucked their thumbs in the 2nd half (except for Chris Paul) while the Spurs played desperate basketball.
Thanks, I've been reading about his back also. Probably a good thing for Spurs that they only have the one day between games 5 & 6. Just like you said it's amazing that West owned them inside to that degree, given his back hurting him. Has West had back trouble before? Not good to see for a 4th year player...
still same old question - where is td? 23 rebs are nice, but without him scoring points, the spurs i'm afraid are gonna lose this one.
new orleans is done for tonight. they seem to just think a game 7 win is automatic since it's at home and there's no need to play hard here on the road. unfortunately for them, game 7 is going to be a close affair and going to come down to 4th quarter execution, and they're going to get tight, especially west and peja, and the spurs won't and will pull it out.
I agree. I felt once the Spurs made it 2-2, they were going to win the series. Looking good tonight so far.
i know bonzi sucks, but are we sure he isn't throwing this game? he's done about 6 things and all 6 have been stupid and bad. and for some reason, the hornets actually give him the ball. edit: jvg is hilarious. "how did paul do it [steal the ball] with the noise against him?"
For young teams, game 7 at home can be a pressure-packed affair. I also give the edge to the Spurs on Monday if the Hornets don't grow up tonight. BTW, isn't it incredibly stupid game 7 would be on Monday? I guess San Antonio to New Orleans is a grueling trip. Bonzi is pathetic and washed up. Great trade for us.
what the hell is chris paul doing? 2 straight fastbreaks, neither defended amazingly well by bowen, and 2 straight offensive fouls? there was absolutely no need to push off on bowen on the first one, and even less on the 2nd as he had peja fanning out to the 3 point line wide open. between those and throwing the ball away on their first possession the hornets are just throwing this away. and now the refs are trying to make sure this goes to a game 7 with a ridiculous call on west for foul 3, an offensive foul on west for something duncan always does, a small touch foul on peja on ginobili on the perimeter, and now peterson getting obviously bumped on a drive with no call. what is it, like 7 to 0 on fouls this quarter? we needs us a game 7 apparently. it'll be interesting to see how bad the other game 6's are.
The refs are putting their stamp on this game ... for the Spurs. Edit: The Hornets need to go to more of the Tyson Chandler and Chris Paul pick n roll.
can anybody play on the road in the playoffs? not only do the home teams win, but there are so many blowouts. it seemed like a few years ago homecourt was almost somewhat irrelevant as road teams won all the time, and now we're headed for something like 21-1 for home teams in the 2nd round. but the spurs will still win game 7.
