So how exactly is he a better pick than Head? All he's proven thus far is that he is worse than those 4. Better than being stuck on the bench behind Mark Madsen or something, but how exactly can one say he would have been a better pick? Not too mention, David Lee ISN'T playing behind those guys and his stats are just barely better.

2nd round picks are always hit and miss. No team has a perfect record there. What about our first round pick, though. That's where we can really get some help.

Allan Ray should be available when we pick too, Dee Brown should be gone by that point though. If we're going PF I'd take Craig Smith, this year's Ryan Gomes.

But please do not draft a foreign player!

I never said he would have been a better pick than Head. All I was saying is that he is buried at the end of the bench in Miami so I dont think his stats are an accurate measure of how good he is. I think Head has had a hell of a season considering the rockets didnt think he would be ready to contribute for another year or two.

where do you guys see P.J.Tucker (Texas) going in the draft...he's been compared as a Ron Artest (offense + defense) type with out the mental deficiencies.

Is he 2nd round material...could he be our sf of the future (assuming T-Mac moves back to SG)?

Tucker reminds me of a Keith Bogans type player with a better offensive game and more athleticism. Isnt he a junior though? If he is I dont think he would come out.

Daniel Horton from Michigan (Cedar Hill Texas native). He'd be a good backup pointguard and role player for the Rox. The guy makes everyone around him better, plays solid defense, has NBA speed and stamina, and has a pretty good shot (led the Big Ten in FT percentage). Depending on how he does in workouts he could go early 2nd round or fall out of the draft. Big question marks are his off-court problems. It appears he's put them behind him and has had a great senior season. A member of the 1st team all Big 10 and former freshman of the yr I think he makes an interesting candidate.

    33.9 mpg
    17.4 ppg
    2.6 rpg
    5.3 apg
    1.9 stpg

James White lost the McD dunk contest to David Lee, IIRC...

He shoots like 48% from the field this year...but most of those come off of dunks/layups. His shot is starting to come around, but I don't think he'll be NBA ready anytime soon. He's just spent too much time relying on his athleticism.

There are plenty of 2nd rounders that would plug gaps immediately. A more important question is, though, would they get playing time in JVG's system?

If u watched the Mcdonalds dunk contest he was blatantly robbed. He was clearly the best dunker, david lee just took his shirt off and got a perfect score.

But most kids who come in the league just dunk, then develop.
    VC, Kobe, Tmac, etc.
Upside with athleticism is much greater especiaily cuz its a second round pick,

Yes he did the between the leg from the free throw line. I also hear he can dunk from the top of the key.

well t-mac and kobe WERE kids (18 years old) and carter wasn't just a dunker, white is a 23 year old 5th year senior. when t-mac was 23 he was a 5th year vet averaging 32 ppg / 6 rebs / 6 assists on 46% fg (39% 3p).

he is what he is at this point. i like him but don't expect some rapid development like the others.

I hate to break it to some folks, but the Rockets may be FORCED to take the best Euro on the board with their early second rounder (from NYK).

Unless the Rockets make a trade, the following players will be taking up roster spots next year:

    T-Mac
    Yao
    Juwan
    Rafer
    Head
    Sura
    Stro
    Deke
    Bowen (p-opt)

Plus, they'll probably look to re-sign Wesley (if he'll take a vet minimum contract) and Bogans. That's 11 players (10 active if you don't think Sura can play next year). They're adding a lottery pick AND probably bringing over Vassilus Spanoulis from Greece. That's not even including any outside free agent signings.

I just don't think there will be any room on the roster for a second round pick. If the Rockets can find another Ginobili or Kirilenko (or Spanoulis?) who can be developed overseas at no cost to them, that might be the best scenario for the team. Just a thought.

I'm beginning to wonder if Steve Novak is the second coming of Matt Bullard.

I wouldn't mind having a deadeye 6'10" 3 point shooter coming off the bench. As long as he understands that he's only in there to shoot the 3. That was the beauty of Bull -- never tried to play over his head.

If you want a 6'10" shooter. Take Pittsnogle in the 1st, he is a heck of a shooter and a smart player. I'm not sure he's the type of guy we need next to Yao but I think his game could be compared to Juwan with more range. Pittsnogle would not be a popular pick but I'm certain that he will have a productive NBA career though his lack of athleticism and defensive deficiencies will probably keep him out of a Rockets uni.

Oh and his playing partner Gansey is also a heck of a shooter and player.... I think the previous poster who compared him to Reddick is right on.
