I wish Amare only the best. We should be some of the last fans in the league to be talking prematurely about Amare's career being over, when we've placed our hopes and dreams on the back of Tracy McGrady. I'm sure you all can't stand it when ignorant fans of other teams talk about trading Tracy for 10 cents on the dollar, or how he's done for good, so be courteous and don't do the same. Don't bring bachi on all of us by wishing ill will on another player, even if you don't like him. On the Yao/Marbury crossover; let it go. It's clear that Yao has, Stephon has gotten his by being sent to basketball purgatory, and until I'm president of ESPN and can show the Kiss of Death everytime the Rockets play the Suns, we're just going to have to live with it. In my best Mike Turico: "Welcome NBA fans to an exciting Sunday matchup between the Phoenix Suns and the 2007 Defending Champion Houston Rockets. These two teams have quite the history, from the historic 2002 draft of Finals MVP Yao Ming and the explosive Amare Stoudemire, fully recovered from the knee problems that have hampered him the past two years, to the trading of Hall-of-Famer Charles Barkley, and finally, their historic battles in the mid '90s, capped off by the "Kiss of Death " three pointer by Head Coach Mario Elie, to seal the 1995 Western Conference Title. Two great teams, one great rivalry, one great game. The NBA on ABC is next!" May Amare get better so one day he can be part of the scene above...
If the Suns decide to trade him this summer, the whole league will know that his knees just blowup. In that kind scenario, Amare's market value will get them Mo Taylor + 7 million garbage from New York.
man all you guys who are placing any blame on amare are idiots and jerks. it is the player's responsibilty to play and earn his contract. it is the suns responsibility to look out for the health of their players and not lead them on or make them think they should even try to aim at a return from this injury. how in the hell is amare going to know what he should and shouldn't be doing? thats what the docs are for.
Amare is a punk. His offense consists of dunking over people, staring them down afterwards, and yelling at the top of his lungs. Yeah, I feel real sorry he won't be able to do that anymore...
his 2nd knee surgery really isnt that big of a deal, it's the 1st one that will affect him....you can practically walk the next day after getting your knee scoped...since his game relied so much on his athleticism and leaping ability, i dunno if he'll be the same amare, but as others have pointed out, he did sign that big contract so i cant feel too sorry for him
First, I wish Amare Stoudamire the best. If he doesn't return at full strength, we all lose. He's an incredible talent. That said, I haven't been optimistic ever since I heard the words "microfracture surgery". I can't think of ANYBODY who has come back from microfracture surgery 100% as effective as they were before the surgery. It sounds like this is going to be one of those tragic stories of what could have been, like with Ralph Sampson, Penny Hardaway, Grant Hill, Larry Johnson, etc.
well it's a pattern and it's odd for such a young guy to already be having all these problems. i think those knees will be a mess after a few years, but i really hope he's ok cause i like to watch him play.
