Moe, good point. I do not agree with the suggestion by Mongo that EG loses on matchups. There is not matchup at the forward spot that EG is secondary to anyone. He has a chance to dominate the boards against anyone and will be a factor in any game he plays, no matter the competition. The thing about it is, if he is out, we are worst off.

As far as I am concerned it is not a stretch to call him a 3. I would start him right now. There is no compelling reason to not start him ahead of Williams.

Depending on the matchup he could play 5 as he did last night. If we are playing a dominant 5, then we can play one of our 5's. If not, then he plays 5 and bring in the 3rd guard or, which I prefer, bring in a 3, like Tmo. That Allan H shot would have been better contested by Tmo. It worked out okay because the 3rd guard score the winner but Tmo should be groomed right now.

I agree with that one. Even though he hit the shot, I don't like Steve playing the 2 no more than mobley playing the 3. He has to give these guys some minutes off. 46 minutes per night is not good for a long season. Torres is a capable 15min guy for Mobley and Noris should get his minutes behind Steve, but I think we need to get Morris or Langhi in that 3 spot more ofetn instead of Cat. I still think this team and its combinations work best in the east. I hope we don't go small and have cat guarding Marshall or the young russian guy.

I checked the box on Utah and Portland and the only guy with 30+ minutes was Malone. Nine other players had 19+ minutes. That kind of rotation could make for some interesting matchups. There is no way Mobes could stop Marshall or Kirylenko if he were matched up against them. If Cat's ankles were okay, he would have a better chance of offsetting the mismatch on the offensive end, but I don't want to see him guarding either one of those guys.

BTWl, I've posted this link before... it's great for boxscores.

in a matchup with Garnett, Duncan, McDyss, Webber or Peja, Griffin is the underdog and not be expected to outplay these players--not this year ( and at least one on one). The only weakness Griffin has right now is post play and experience. my bottomline point was that Griffin is better than 75%+ of the league at the 3 or 4 right now, so using an argument that EG does not get minutes due to matchups is absurd...even against a supposed "bad" matchup, he may have some advantages and will make up for it......

Griff's ballhandling is too poor for a 3.

Griffin as a 5 was very sweet. He was able to force their shotblocker (Camby) to do one of two things:
a.) Stay by the basket to challenge, and leave Griff open to rain shots all day.
b.) Guard Griffin, and allow Mooch, KT, Francis, and Cat to go to the basket unchallenged.

crispee-Interesting MPG stat. Though, Rudy chose to go with Griff for a 48 MPG outing rather than use Collier, Willis, or Morris at the 4. Griffin's smoothness may help keep his stamina up.
