I totally agree. There are a ton of people on there that never post anymore. I think they were more sentimental nominees since they used to be here all the time.

this "tournament" is just one big circle jerk I noticed there was a huge elitest attitude prevelant on this board but a contest to name the "best" poster is just too damn pathetic.

I propose we change the format drastically. The way it is currently constructed, this is nothing more than just a popularity contest. Where is the drama in that? I give it a very low entertainment value. I propose that we add some spice to the event, by having the posters who are competing against one another write a single post. You can write whatever you want in the post. The other posters will then base their vote on the quality of the post. This way, the contest shifts from being just a blind popularity contest, to actuactually having a component of merit in it. I also like B-Bob's suggestion on sub-dividing it by forum. Some people are stars in their respective forum, but unknowns in other forums. For instance, there could be some great posters in the Fantasy Forum that I've never even heard of. Where is the excitement in just another bland 'best poster' tourney? We need to change the format.

I think this is a great idea but popularity is also part of this tourney. Perhaps you could break it down to where you score someone on where popularity and a post. 1-10 format, 10 being best and each category is worth 50%. Each voter can show their scores and tally their own so that the mod (Manny) doesnt have to do the math. I am assuming everyone here can do simple math. This would also weed out all of the people that a. dont want to do it and b. arent around anymore. I think having 4 different tourney's broken up by forum is a good idea also. GARM, D&D, Hangout, and Fantasy.
I'm kind of curious about the entrants... heypartner hasn't posted in eons, TheCat never posts any more (wasn't he "member on crack?"), and I can't remember the last time Mrs. JB posted. Yetti's just a dumbass, so he needs to be in the dumbass tournament by himself...ZRB probably shouldn't be in this thing either, since he's just a mirror image of me, at least in GARM... There ya go...Including my spot, that's six spots for the other neglected posters...
But the post wasn't about you, was it? The day T_J does anything to help someone other than himself will become a national BBS holiday. T_J, you want changes?
