Actually we are doing quite well across the board. Our spending power dwarfs that of all but the top 15-20 nations. The issue now is to just funnel that in the right direction for the few who don't get it.
Galveston is just like compton. Having cops that love beating on families of baseball players and serving as the front line of houston during category five hurricanes, Galveston should be ranked no. 9
My daily train stop to and from work is on Lake Street in Chicago... but fortunately its inside the Loop and not in this "1 in 4 chance of being victimized" part of Lake Street - which is west of downtown.
What's up on that 77550 getting love! O wait... But honestly it doesn't seem that bad around here despite what this report says. I've never been stabbed or held at gun point. My car has only been broken into once in the last 15 years and that was in high school. I would think that is a fairly decent number. The cops are crooked, but that is a theme that a lot of police departments seem to have to worry about. I honestly don't see it dangerous enough to make a list like this one.
the nypd has been doing a fantastic job keeping crime down. but not one neighborhood in all of Brooklyn is a bit of a surprise. it seems East New York or some community deep in the projects, deep in the borough would have made the cut. but the same thing goes for all of New York, and no L.A. ghettos listed either.
On possible list-worthy areas that arent listed, a list of the next 100 dangerous neighborhoods would still be in the 99th percentile (worst 1%) of all neighborhoods. 25 most dangerous neighborhoods list is the worst out of all the worst places. It obviously doesnt mean a neighborhood not listed is relatively safer and gets a sigh of relief. When you're talking about multiple segments within bigger areas, its probably better to list the 50 worst to get an even better picture of what areas have the worst neighborhoods.
I know people and have been around in the #1 spot and in the #4 Chicago spot....i would've thought other areas were worse in Chicago, so this surprises me somewhat in that sense, but overall I'm not surprised; Chicago gang violence and murders overall fell in the early 2000s but have really picked back up now in the last 2 years....sad.....I think part of it can be attributed to the obvious factors of economy pushing those with good jobs out onto the streets to struggle to survive for themselves, as well as the city of Chicago pushing out the final remnants and residents of the old Chicago housing projects (Cabrini, Robert Taylor, Ickes, etc)....the last phase of demolition and move outs are happening on alot of those buildings and leaving alot of people out of sync and out of their old neighborhoods, and moving into new ones. That's always another reason for gang violence; territorial disputes.
