So what you are saying Bullard, Ja Morrant and the Grizzlies are full of BS? Yet somehow it was Christian who got re-injured, not Ja? Again bad luck? Again excuses? (As is, "shooting tons of 3s is good science we have the numbers crunched. 0-27 is just bad luck." But let's not conflate the issues, even though they are related...) From what I know in modern orthopedic science, strong muscles are the best braces and stabilizers of all joints, so not surprised at all by the findings in this article. However that was not at all the point here. Christian (like Ja) was coming from injury, and we know that muscle strength takes long time to get back to 100%. That is why everyone recommends external support after injury: braces, sleeves, tapes, etc. The article that you referenced looks at general prevention, which is not the issue here.
I agree, he's always tight with the players. And herein lies the problem: from I heard in the 90s, players were complaining about Anthony Falsone being a drill sergeant with regard to training regiments, while Keith was "their guy", i.e. being easier on them. So CP3 coming in bad shape is yes, kind of an issue for which the Chief Athletic Trainer bears some responsibility. If you want to build culture, the Heat may be a good organization to emulate, with their brutal demands on players' physical shape.
Poster is saying that simpler things - being in top shape, strengthening muscles around joints, wearing external support after injuries - works better for players' health than unproven fancy gizmos. Expensive equipment works best as a self-promotion tool in impressing ownership and media of how sophisticated you are. Poster's views are informed by conversations with the trainer of Juventus FC.
Yeah no. The superstar players have their own trainers. Chris Paul returning off an injury and returning not in great shape isn’t on Keith Jones. Chris Paul is going to do what he wants to do. That is the same with Harden and Westbrook. The younger players are the ones that are mostly involved with the trainers. The Rockets haven’t had issues with younger players conditioning. Jones worked hard with Capela for example. Also, the Heat target a particular type of personality that fits their culture. It has less to do with training than it does culture. If the Heat trainers are so far above everyone else, why was James Johnson always out of shape? Why was Justice Winslow always hurt? The Heat have had as many injuries as anyone else.
Good post minus the Chris Paul reference. He was injury prone prior to arriving to Houston. It wasn’t if but a matter of when he’d get hurt with us. It just so happened to be when we needed him most (a trip to the finals and probable chip)
I still am so confused on why anyone ever believed we were getting a healthier player when trading Paul for Westbrook. Didn’t make any sense then and has been completely proven wrong since. Westbrook was/is a walking injury.
I think OP, Has a point, but the rockets had Dwight Howard one of the most injury prone centers who came here after a injury, to play with James. But rockets had luck with Harden and Tucker, who were there Offensive and Defensive punch. 2 Western Conference Finals came to pass. Some team cant even sniff having a chance at that. Rockets played 2 of the best teams ever created, and if those 2 teams were not in the way, then they might of got a trophy. Sure, you can say this about bad luck, but for organization not named the Spurs, Lakers, or Warriors, there has not been a team lucky enough to get pass these teams, Overall the rockets were somewhat healthy, despite the Yao and T-mac years which was shame, but injured superstars are a thing in this league, and look how warriors are injury prone now. Just imagine if the rockets could of made a trade for C.P.3. instead of signing Howard. I think that might of been something to have them in 2014-15. Overall the rockets have been healthy team, and has always been a playoff threat. Le$$
How about Stretching and doing Yoga. Something Phil Jackson did and taught to the Bulls Players. Yes Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman and more did meditate Yoga on the court.
I get that (really, I do), but what proof does poster have that the Rockets training staff used fancy gizmos exclusively and completely ignored long-proven methods? Adding expensive methods that might possibly help to an existing training approach doesn't strike me as particularly negligent.
Rocket's curses of the bambino: 1. Keith Jones 2. Giving Hakeem's contract to Kelvin Cato Too late to do anything about #2 but we can still fix #1. Keith Jones sucks.
