24 is getting none of the farewell that lost is getting. It was a pretty grounding breaking show early on. I think it transcended television and inspired (good or bad) a lot of things. I mean you had supreme court justices referencing jack bauer, and you have a lot of intelligence folks inspired by it as well. I hope jack goes postal on pres and her co-conspirators.
a lot of people didn't like the last two-plus seasons very much. i still enjoy it and am looking forward to the finale, but i'm certainly not going to miss it as much as i'm going to miss lost. jack going completely ****ing nuts and not even really being a sympathetic character at all probably doesn't help. there's no way it's a positive ending tonight whereas you had that chance with lost.
I think the show jumped the shark a few years ago with every season having a mole and ctu getting shut down, but the lost writers were just pulling things out of their asses. Its pretty obvious to me that really had no plan and so they were like lets throw some crap at the wall and hope it sticks. If lost had gone a couple more years I am sure people would have grown tired of it as well.
True... but then again.. Lost was a sequential show... 24 is more of a seasonal show... although Jack is going to be either dying or going away... but I think there's going to be a 24 movie after the finale tonight to wrap things up.
And another series I've enjoyed....gone. I'm kinda glad it's done now. One less show I "have" to watch.
Nice way to wrap a great series... after all the superhuman physical stunts, it was Jack's humanity and decency on that tape that saved the day. I also appreciated the simplicity of the very end. Through all the years, Chloe was the only one who truly understood him. I've never been into two shoes like I was 24 and LOST, and to have to say goodbye to both on back to back nights... At least there's a movie here...
Couldn't they just have an happy ending? Every season ends badly, a happy ending would have been original for 24.
So we are to presume a movie will be about the US and the Russians hunting down Jack Bauer out in the wilderness? Wasn't there a season that started like that? When he was hiding in Africa? It included the summer "24" made-for-TV movie several years back.
i thought the first hour was great and then, what happened? how could it be a good idea to have the last hour of 24 have jack completely out of commission? it was all taylor/hassan/suvarov/logan for the last hour. like The Cat said, having jack's tape save the day was an interesting touch, but the final jack bauer power hour didn't have jack bauer!! while chloe talking him down made sense, he needed to take down at least one more person or get some revenge on logan. even saving him was rushed (they sure found him quick). granted, he got what he wanted and everyone involved in the plot was pretty much destroyed, but still jack needed to be in the final hour. and like Air Langhi said, we get another terrible ending for jack. i realize there wasn't really anyway it could end well for him after everything he did, but the guy saves the world and every season ends with utter tragedy for him. he is finally going to be with his family and that gets destroyed. then he finds renee and she is killed. then he uncovers the plot and he's on the run for the rest of his life. can we not give him one ounce of happiness? i liked the goodbye between him and chloe but man i wanted more out of that last hour. oh well, very good series.
No kidding. He's a step ahead of everyone the entire season. Nothing really caught him by suprise anymore. Heck, he saw Chloe coming a few hours earlier.
