But that didn't really happen until later, right? Jack was still in communication with Agent Pierce until they went into the safe room. Then the communications cut out.
it is, but come on.. if you could get 100's of dudes on the "inside" to give you all kinds of info.. including someone pretty high up (jon voight), an assistant to a senator, and lowly guys like maintenance dudes.. i think you can find your way in with their help. Not sure why everyone thinks this is SO ridiculous. The only "ridiculous" part is that juma's men had so many guys on the inside. If that's believable to you, the rest shouldn't be too tough to swallow. You don't think they could fashion all kinds of crazy stuff given most of the knowledge about floorplans/layouts/security details/shifts/whatever I'm missing? Every little detail.. given to people with smarts, technology, and money.. yeah, I think they could figure out a way
It does bring up the question of why Juma was in the US while his own country was being invaded. Planning for this type of operation would take months at the very least. There was no way for Juma to know that today was going to be the day that Taylor launched the strike, or that his previous plan with the absurd "I can take over world with a USB port!" CIP device would fail or that Taylor wouldn't back down from invading his country once they had her husband - that all just happened a few hours ago. How did Juma get to the US and ready to run his operation so quickly?
Another thing I'd be curious about is how relevant the time clock is in these later seasons. In the first season when it was a new concept, the time clock was pretty realistic (minus the fact that LA never had any traffic). But now, it almost seems like its an afterthought. For example, were Pierce and the President's daughter really just sitting there for about 20-30 minutes while all the saferoom & FBI scenes were happening? That whole time, all of Juma's men were down there with the hostages - wouldn't that have been a good time to try to move? Instead they do nothing that whole time and just start moving when Juma decides to try to find them.
I guess the fact that bothered me was that they knew an attack was planned on DC, the FBI had a visual on armed soldiers in DC and yet the First Family was still puttering around the White House like nothing was out of the ordinary. You would think they would do a little more to lock down the White House before the alleged attack, regardless of whether they knew what was to be attacked or not. But as The Cat pointed out, what do I know about security. It was entertaining though.
My assumption was that, while the Secret Service dudes were gunfighting with Juma's men, Pierce assumed the halls were not safe for her to be at risk.. and he thought there was a better chance of them being rescued after the SS took them out. Once he realized they had pulled back, he figured out what had happened and realized they weren't gonna be rescued anytime soon and had to move, which is why he took the risk he didn't want to take before.
Absolutely - but if I remember right, there was a lot of time between when the SS pulled out and when Pierce decided to move, despite him getting no new information in the interim. There was all the FBI scenes meeting with the SS, prepping an assault team, and then taking to the VP; there was the attempt to electronically break into the saferoom and a discussion of whether C4 would work; then there was the conversation with Jon Voight. All of that time, the clock is ticking - but Pierce/Taylor were just sitting there. They just happened to start moving when Juma started looking for them, despite them not knowing that Juma decided to try to find htem.
let's just assume Pierce the badass was saying "let's go" while the president's fragile daughter was saying "no no no please no no no i can't do it" until he finally talked sense into her
This is 24 so i'm willing to suspend disbelief in a lot of things. Great episodes, the show has that intensity back. It's been a while since its been this heart pounding. I can honestly say i can't wait for next weeks episode.
I agree. Ever since season 2, I think this season has finally picked it back up again. The sad part is... I knew it wouldn't end well, being that we're still only 12 hours in.... I'm very skeptical of Almeida's actions.
He's being a bit shady, but I hope its only because of his guilt of his past. I'm really hoping they don't turn him again. There are certain characters that I like being trusted. Tony, Chloe and Bill. Tony goes pretty far back, I don't want to see his character ruined. I guess I'm glad they killed Palmer off for this reason, they can't turn him now.
these 2 hours were honestly the best all season, i was locked in the entire episode. "it is because you are WEAK." there were a few more lines in the episode that blew me away.
How about Walker looking confused while looking through the plans until the big ass picture of the White House? Would've been better if she looked shocked after flipping one more time to a page that said "WHITE HOUSE" on it in huge block letters.
Yeah that would've been pretty funny. They may as well have done that. I guess they didn't trust their viewers to catch it otherwise. That hurts. Then again, the show has shown you can't trust anyone.
I thought she was gonna cut herself in half when she jumped on the back of the boat. that looked like it hurt. and why was the boat not running? it looked like it was just sailing away.
