Bingo. I still love the show as much as ever, and I know a lot of other people who feel the same. It just gets really old defending the show against complaints that easily could've made any other season. I've seen it a million times before, and I even called it before this season... when a show reaches a certain height of popularity (all the critical acclaim last season followed by the huge Emmy night) the "cool" thing to do is to hate it. Just wanted to echo Cannonball's sentiment... there are still a lot of folks out there who love the show and love this particular season. It just isn't worth the battle.
Why were you trying to defend it in the first place? It's like arguing over whether music is good or bad - it's purely subjective opinion. If someone likes Britney Spears or doesn't like the Beatles, who is anyone else to tell them their opinion on that is wrong and that they should or shouldn't like certain music? No one is trying to tell you that you should dislike the show or think its getting old or whatnot. They are simply stating that they think it's going downhill. Of course it's going to get old trying to convince them they are wrong about their purely subjective opinion, which by definition can't be wrong.
Because a vast majority of the criticism could've and should've been applied to other seasons of the show. I understand that to each his own, but I wanted to point out what to me were flaws in the reasoning. I also didn't want to people to get the impression (like AstroRocket apparently did) that it's a unanimous opinion that people don't like this season.
I still think the show is solid...Heroes is good, but its a different good...With 24, we're talking terrorists, not super human fantasy stuff...and I like Heroes... Well, can someone tell me where Bill went? I missed last weeks episode and now Nadia is in charge...She's hot, but c'mon...I did like the part where VP Noah got the shaft...Women... Jack having to break out within CTU is classic...Audrey finally talking after the shrink said he could do more damge, priceless...Is this season as good as past, no, but still overall, one of the better shows on TV, period...
You should stop defending a show that you like. It's a waste of time. who really cares what others think? I could say things I don't like. You say things you do like. I don't attack your opinion, you don't attack mine and life goes on. I quit watching and you keep tuning in. No point wasting time arguing about a TV show (even the supposed "flaws in reasoning"). My point is, I wouldn't have thought the dislike of 24 around here was unanimous if more of you guys were actually here just discussing the show (I was trying to see where the plot had gone to, not really get an opinion poll) instead of being annoyed by people with differing opinions beacuse you feel like you have to defend it and therefore ignoring the thread altogether. Don't let haters hijack your discussion (honestly, anyone that was as bored as I was with this season that is still watching and posting in this thread is just trying to get on you guys' nerves. classic definition of a hater). Anyway, I think I'm gonna take Bill Simmons's approach to season 6 and give the show another chance next season. This works a lot for some of the animated shows I watch. Maybe, like often happens in those shows, the writing staff will go in a direction I find more appealing by then.
I don't get why the Russians don't confront the Chinese directly, instead of starting a conflict with the only superpower. Makes no sense. And Morris telling Chloe it's over. C'mon you're divorced for a reason. You couldn't stand each other before. I hope the Chinese special forces kidnap Chloe and drill a hole in her shoulder next week.
While I understand your point, when it feels like the majority of the posts are from people b****ing about the show, what's the point of even reading the thread for people who like the current season?
I thought if a good episode, not great, but good...Only 3 hours left, and I think two shows... Nadia is still f'n hot, IMO...She can be the boss of me anyday...When then stormed in, I didn't think they'd go after the grandson...who the hell cares...Not to be a cynic, but after all that has happened, how does CTU still get to be so vulnerable...
Thankfully, the show has been officially renewed for at least two more seasons. http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117964963.html?categoryid=1043&cs=1 I'm not even sure I remember what life before Jack Bauer was like.
