bump to remind anyone that the premiere is tonight. I remember a couple of folks last year didn't realize that it opened on Sunday instead of the usual Monday, so hopefully that doesn't happen this year. Also, it starts at 7 the next two nights instead of 8.
I've never watched this show, but have heard enough hype surrounding it to peak my interest. I've set the dvr to record it tonight, now I just wonder when I'll get the time to watch it.
I have been too busy watching sports and recording music but the hype machine finally got to me after 4 years and I Netflixed the first season. Holy crap. that is the most entertaining program I have ever seen. I am on disk 3 season 1 and am TiVoing Ep. 1 season 5 tonight. I will record all of them and when I am finally caught up watch it.
Spoilers from this thread made me expect one of the deaths. But not the one in the first 5 minutes. What a great show.
Is this going to be a spoiler thread? Can I talk about things that have already happened? I'd like to pat myself on the back and proclaim that I successly predicted every major death tonight and even the means of said death as well. (I used the FOX promos as part of my research.) My wife was quite impressed. I just told her I've had 4 seasons worth of 24 experience now to base my predictions on. Yes, the show is THAT predictable. BTW, Chloe's boy toy is totally up to something. Why would a pretty boy tap that, otherwise?
It's one of the President's team, not CTU. Those of you who taped the episode... hurry up and watch. I worry every year that they might get repetitive or they might lose a step... but it never happens. Really amazing show and outstanding premiere.
i love the show, but it does get repetative. The very second you seen the boy, you know he was going to turn out to be Kim Jr. A couple big wigs/name dies. always have the guy/gal who could end the problem in the first few episodes but does some idiotic thing like get taken hostage to screw it up. Midday always reveals the TRUE threat and the first few hours were a division or complete waste of time. always some type of ctu compromise My predictions: nina comes back to kill jack in the end. Season 5 gets renamed to Darkman 5: ninas revenge
I didn't think he did anything all that dumb. He certainly didn't chase a cougar through the woods. Who were the big names that died in previous season premieres? It was very shocking - 24 isn't afraid to kill major characters, but it typically doesn't happen that early. Very nice changeup. I don't know what guy/gal could have potentially solved all of this but got taken hostage either. There are obviously some repetitions, such as "CTU compromise" and there being a secondary threat, but that's true of any situation in both television or life. If you have a show 24 hours in length, of course there have to be multiple layers to the threat... that's like claiming the show is repetitive because it's 24 hours each season. It's true, but...
When i say big names, I mean people that hold big positions or have built up a significant profile. For example, the head of CTU has died at least on two occasions. Core players in CTU always die. Characters built up after a couple seasons always die... like Nina and Sherry. I don't like how they have to write out a character with death. Palmer for instance, could simply never be used again. Kim on the otherhand, you EXPeCT her to show up somewhere, but nowhere in season 4.
