22 game win streak happens once in a life. 2nd round will always happen in the coming years. The choice is obvious. How about 22 games win streak vs. champion? Both maybe once in a life thing.
After ten year, people may remember 22 game win but not many people will remember rockets pass first round. Thus, please beat LA to get bigger accomplishment this year.
The second round isn't anything unless we get a championship. 8 teams go to the second round each year, beating the drought is great but in the long run, short of a championship of conference finals win, it ain't that serious.
The 2nd round means we are still in the hunt for a championship, the 22 in a row means we make the playoffs. I want a ring. DD
it's been said before, every year 8 teams make the second round. in the history of the league, 22 consecutive wins has been done twice. 22 wins has the greater historical significance, which i why i voted for the streak. that said, i would have gladly traded the streak for the 2nd round last year.
I don't know why, on reflection, we have to make this absurd choice. Right now, today, of course a majority are going to pick advancing towards a possible finals as more important, because they are living in the here and now. We've been in a drought that encompasses the lives of many members from the time they were teenagers, seeing the frustration of either stuck in the 1st round or not even making that. In short, being frustrated with our playoff failures is what they know. Going forward becomes huge. The Streak appeals to members with a longer view of the team's history (like myself and a significant number). Why do we have to chose? Both are vastly important to the team and its place in the NBA pantheon. The Streak stays on the history books for decades. Advancing may either lead to a finals series that might give us another championship... just as huge, in my book. Advancing takes several monkeys off our backs, and not just from my fellow poo-flinging monkeys in D&D. It is BIG for team confidence. Not only this season's playoffs, but going into next year. It's something to build on. It eases the frustration felt by those going mad with spinning their post-season wheels, like Yao. So why do we have to chose? Both huge. Both quite different accomplishments.
Well the question isn't "22 wins or a ring", the question is "22 wins or 2nd round, which was the greater accomplishment?" Yes, we're still alive in the hunt for a championship, but what does it matter if we lose in the 2nd round? The dead horse deserves more flogging: 8 teams do this every year. Do you mean to tell me that Denver reaching the 2nd round this year is a greater accomplishment than us winning 22 games in a row even though we lost our best player to a season-ending injury halfway through? We need some perspective here. If we win a conference championship, then I'd be willing to concede it as a bigger accomplishment. It's nice to get the monkey off our backs, but surely we aren't this pathetic, celebrating the 2nd round of the playoffs like it's the Clutch City equivalent of a championship run.
I can't believe some of you "Rockets fans" actually try to **** talk the 22 win streak by buying into the media bull**** about how we didn't played good teams.
