The #3 TE was still on the board and we take the #15 TE? Very strange, but hey, we saw a star in the making. Titans got Hill but we got the next Grock! Haha, we will shock them all.
This is what I meant earlier when saying the Texans have a tendency on Day 2 to take 1 guy that fills a perceived need due to poor quality starter at the position currently but is raw or a consensus Day 3 type. This is your Scruggs/Fisher pick of this class. Gimme depth at CB/LB instead, especially with how the board has fallen.
FWIW, McShay has Klein listed as his 3rd top TE in the draft. The low production is attributed to the poor play of the Michigan QB last year.
The problem is that we took Klein in the second round instead of the fourth round. But, maybe it will pan out. I would have just preferred a WR.
Just watching some highlights, I like the length, and he moves well. He seems like he could develop into a solid receiving threat in mid-range, going above smaller DB's. There is something interesting there. A bunch of the highlights come when Michigan has him split out wide, basically as a WR. There are a couple of catches where he pulls it in when he has to extend his arms well away from his body and he doesn't have any trouble. He definitely looks more like a receiver than a blocker to me. Not exactly ripped or heavily muscled. Not my pick, but I'm not a professional NFL scout. Whatever. I try not to get too emotional about specific names.
