What can’t happen tomorrow during the NBA Draft Lottery for the Houston Rockets: 1. Brooklyn Nets getting the #1 pick — new rule next year means teams can’t win the lottery in back-to-back years. 2. Golden State Warriors landing a top pick — gives them even more leverage in a potential Giannis trade. 3. Oklahoma City Thunder getting another top pick — nobody wants the rich getting richer. 4. Dallas Mavericks jumping into the top picks — no reason to make a division rival even stronger.
If the bucks win the lottery from #10 (or even jump into the top 3) I'm going to assume Giannis is going to some large market like NYK or GSW for peanuts.
Nobody is talking like the St. Antone Spurs got 4-5 picks again, albeit in a lower range......still 1st Rounder among them. Joshua Jefferson, Veesar, Momcilovic.....
Cooper Flagg needs a star running mate and the Bucks need something for giving Giannis to a big market like the Pelicans with AD those are my 2 key targets for lottery night fckery
I have not gotten clarification on this but when I asked someone with the Rockets, they guessed that the rule would start with next year as the baseline, since it's not finalized yet. But yeah, this is an important clarification to have.
If the Milwaukee Bucks get a top-5 pick, it really shifts things around Giannis Antetokounmpo—either they keep him as a mentor for the rookie or it makes it easier to eventually move on if the timelines don’t match. But yeah, I don’t want to deal with the Dallas Mavericks when we already have to deal with the San Antonio Spurs. That’s enough to keep track of as it is.
I thought the rule was the Bucks need to give Giannis to a big market and then they get a lottery pick. The only logical (*ahem*) result that can be arrived at in this lottery is that the NBA must thank the Golden State Warriors by rewarding them with a top-3 pick (whether or not Kerr starts him is another story) since they're starting to run on fumes.
only way Milwaukee is getting a top 5 pick is with the understanding that Giannis is outta there headed to a major market Mavs with Masai and a top pick next to Flagg probably surpasses us by 2028
Even if the rules aren’t fully clear yet, I still wouldn’t chance it. I don’t want the Brooklyn Nets winning the lottery this year, and I definitely don’t want them landing a top-5 pick either.
The only way they really sneak into a top-5 pick is if they get lucky in the lottery and the Atlanta Hawks jump into a top-4 spot, pushing everyone else down and putting them right there in line. Maybe they could take a step next year with a healthy Kyrie Irving and a top pick, especially if Cooper Flagg keeps developing and levels up again. But I don't want them to get rewarded again like last year.
