Strosnider, Jackson, and Robbins are still available at 28 but that pick at 17 threw conventional draft strategy out the window.
Round 1, Pick 28: Jack Radel, RHP, Notre Dame Officially, this pick is part of the Prospect Performance Incentive round. That's a bit too much to type and say. It's a 1st-round pick.
Radel throws strikes, there's questions about how much of the swinging variety that he can get. Sure. Just get outs.
Radel is a good pitching prospect and would have been a good value at 53…28 not so much. Again, we will have to wait and see bonus amounts and later picks to determine if this is good or bad. I would slot Radel in as the 8th best prospect in Houston’s system. Both these picks are high floor guys who could reach the majors quickly.
Is this from Hunter Brown ? It feels appropriate if it was from a pitchers performance to draft a pitcher
Jack Radel is the first Notre Dame pitcher to be picked in the first round since Aaron Heilman was picked 31st overall 25 years ago.
Both of these first two picks have to be below slot deals. I can’t see either pick getting full slot money. Gotta think that Brown is gonna go after some high upside prep players later in the draft.
Agreed, but what great talents have been traded? Where does the current Astros farm system rank talent wise. What makes you think that Dana wont be drafting another Janek? What gives you such confidence. Posters give Dana flowers for the Tucker trade, I think Dana belive Dana broke even or slightly won the trade. A .225 hitting OF that plays great defense and an injured SP, plus Parades.
I love how u say " plus Paredes ". Like hes not matching or doing better than Tucker offensively at a way cheaper price. Hes no big deal.
Some names to file away for later today: Bo Lowrance Archer Horn Will Brick Rocco Maniscalso Connor Comeau
