"Democratic governors and state legislators need to realize that this is no longer about fairness; it’s about fighting back so that Democrats are not engineered out of the House forever. And I get that Democrats don’t have the stomach for this kind of warfare; find it. The time for good government solutions is long gone. Now it’s existential."

any Dem who hasn’t realized this by now is a fool and paid opposition to the party

Not on board. I understand the stakes. But picking 7 partisan hacks for your highest court who will ignore precedent and/or the state constitution to force this gerrymandered map is too much ****ery for too small a gain.

What I would have expected is exactly what is happening - the fascist government is forcing the opposition to itself become more fascist to compete in a race to the bottom. We are in a damned if you do damned if you don't situation, a vicious spiral where we will lose our democracy (such as it was) regardless. The only choice is whether we're bracing ourselves or leaning into it.

this weak “holier than thou” mindset is one of the main reasons we are where we are now

insane that there are Dems who still think like this in this day and age

Y’all just want to lose. Y’all embrace getting slapped around.

So what should they do? Sit back and have their map struck down, possibly lose the House as republicans continue to gerrymander, and maybe we’ll get em in 2028?

    WAKE UP

Can't reform the government without having the power to do so. It's either that or wait for violent overthrow like other countries.

I’m progressive but I don’t know that I’d call myself a democrat. I like democratic policies better than republican ones, but I want democracy more than I want democrats. Democrats taking away people’s political voice feels just as dirty as the republicans doing it. If we can’t break this cycle and go back to representative government, I don’t think I care whether I’m oppressed by a republican or a democrat. I have some advantages others don’t have that give me the luxury of saying that. I’m a white male natural born citizen and will do fine, personally, either way. And, I’m a dual citizen with a foot in each of two countries, so if things get really ugly, I can bug out. I get that not everyone has the risk tolerance to decide as I do. But I can so I do. I hope this fighting dirty works out for you though I don’t think it will.

yup, I knew it would be a white “progressive” saying this sh*t…

republicans attacking minorities and stripping away their rights/protections doesn’t have any effect on you…ICE harassing and rounding up brown and black people doesn’t have any effect on you, they’ll never do it to white people

you can call yourself whatever you like…all this weak mindset will get you is more republican fascism, but for people like you, that’s ok

Democrats doing whatever they can to stop republicans from enacting their vile agenda and further destroying this country is “oppression”…Lord have mercy

the people at this point in time who would still be against Dems doing everything they can to combat republican gerrymandering before the midterms are who Malcolm X was talking about…just switch liberal with progressive if you want

Think of it this way. Imagine the NBA is setup where whoever wins the finals, gets to set the league rules for the following year.

The Spurs win and changes the rules to remove traveling, offense/defense 3 seconds in the paint and goaltending.

As a Rockets supporter, do you go, well traveling and goaltending isn't how I grew up playing basketball, so I can't support them if my team plays that way to win, fundamentally forgetting that the rules of the game have already changed.

Maybe your scared the Rockets will add a rule that only players named Amen can score or something, but all messaging has been that they'll add back traveling and goaltending.

Meanwhile the Spurs have said they'll sign Draymond next year and plan to legalize groin kicks.

I reject your racial framing. You have a vote. Use it to serve your interests. I have a vote and I'll use it for mine. I don't owe black people any more than I owe the democratic party.

I don't think that analogy holds. The issues here are constitutional, not merely legal. This is more like when the Spurs win they say they will no longer let the winner the following year change the rules - the rules will always be that the Spurs set the rules. The Rockets say they will overcome this handicap next year and that they will somehow replace the Spurs as the only rule maker for the rest of time and they will use that inordinate and unjustified power to bring back the rules about traveling. I might have opinions about traveling, but I am far more concerned about the machinations that let the winner make this huge power grab over the rules of the game. The Rockets don't take the right position here; they should advocate for a return to the agreement that control passes from winner to winner (or better, to an independent commission to set the rules), not just say trust me I'll be a better tyrant than the Spurs.

Democrats have 30-40 seats in the House due to cheating with illegal immigrants counting in the census or aggressive gerrymandering. Look at them squeal when these dishonest moves are unwound and a level playing field is created! So much damage to the country was caused by this over-representation of Democrats in the House for decades. It's time for fairness to be implemented.

The funniest thing about these inbred cultists is they don't realize illegals give them more seats than democrats bcz Texas and Florida are the biggest recipients of extra seats. California and New York both had independent commission which means their maps were fair while Texas and Florida were gerrymandered to the max lol

MAGATs are sincerely dumbest human beings in the world

this is the type of person who will allow someone like Trump to gain power, then sit there and be complaining 24/7 as he destroys the country

you’re basically an opp…the only difference between you and MAGA, is that you’ll pretend not to be

Democrats will never be able to effectively combat the republicans with people like this, and thankfully, more and more Dem politicians and most of the base are waking up to that reality

like I said, people like Malcolm X warned against these types

this is your Ana Kasparian or other liberal/progressive who will do just as much work for MAGA than they will any Dem while pretending that they’re for the betterment of society…they actively harm the fight

As a note, Pakistan has one of the highest rates of inbreeding in the world. An accusation or insult by/from a liberal is usually an admission of guilt.

Thought this would be useful to share!

Here is a novel idea - offer up decent candidates. This isn't a us vs them. Put your best man up and let the chips land where they fall

He didn't say, "Black man, Black woman, come on over and help me build America." He said, "N*gger, get down in the bottom of that boat and I'm taking you over there to help me build America." Being born here does not make you an American. I'm not an American. You're not an American. You are one of twenty-two million Black people who are the victims of America.
