Imagine if this was in Seattle and they were the Sonics instead of this OKC crap. Nearly 20 years later and it still feels hella weird.

What is it about OKC that is too good for their opponents? I watch them and i'm like man these chumps would get absolutely demolished by some of the greatest teams ever, and yet analytics have them surpassing the greatest teams ever with the greatest players ever. I guess the NBA has changed so much that teams like this are what greatness amounts to now. Chet and Hartenstein would get their **** punched in by most great teams with great bigs. SGA would get bullied by Kobe or MJ. Bron or Bird led teams would carve them up. Showtime Lakers? I mean Kareem and Magic would feast in the post. They'd just take turns bullying and finding Worthy and Scott on cuts. The GS team without KD i can see struggle, but with KD? IDK. Which then makes me ask if that CP3 and Harden Rockets team would'n't have run through this OKC team without sweating-but nah Harden hates physical matchups. Is the NBA so bad that this OKC team is now considered one of the greatest ever built?

They force a lot of Turnovers.....like a ton....

I am still in the process of figuring out how their Defense is historically Elite......

KD would not even be in Golden State if his Thunder were that dominant defensively...book it.

Even so..it's weird seeing them on the floor dominate all year. Not a single one of them is dominant individually. SGA is a nice player, but historically he's doing something only MJ did and the eye test is not equal to=stats are inflated. He mastered foul baiting like Harden used to.

IDk. Something else is missing overall. The team as a whole shot so well from 3. Like everyone shot 38-40% Even with some of their ugly shot forms, is that sustainable season to season? They have 7-8 deep that can score double digits, but again, because stats are inflated, i can't see that translating to previous generations. I really think they would get absolutely beat up like little kids against previous NBA champs and greatest teams of yesteryear. What's weird is so many of these guys that were bums just a season or two ago are now bonafide starters on contenders and it makes me wonder is it really b/c they improved so much or is it just the decline in quality of competition or the NBA changed even future into what their strengths are which were weaknesses years prior?

That is why I love Euro basketball...nobody is really looking like Shaq, Dream or Jordan.

The best teams are well oiled machines....everything is so balanced.

That's a good example. Watching the Olympics this past summer and i just want the NBA to look like that. I still think stardom wins out and that's why i don't see this OKC team beating any of the historically great teams unless there's inner turmoil/age/fatigue IE Detroit Bad Boys 2.0 beating LAL 4 peat attempt.

You have a point because the Thunder still struggle in certain moments and the best teams historically should not be struggling like that to close out games.

As dominant as SGA has been, Shai is neither physically imposing nor absolutely dominant shooter, which makes it hard if he is struggling.

Denvers shot 41% from 3 and still got blown by 43-49 pts.
