I always vote for the laundry. Players are so fickle.

Crane really is so far beyond any other owner this town has seen. When he has to open that wallet he does, none of this reserved nonsense to preserve the bottom line.

In terms of personnel Correa was basically given to us, all it required was an owner willing to spend and most of the league doesn't have that guy at the top...we do.

    What a sweet day!!

I wish they got more pitching, but.

Framber and Brown are set #1 and 2.

Hader, Abreu, Sousa, Okert, King, and Dubin cover the 7th - 9th

Find #3 and #4 from: Arrighetti, Javier, Walter, Garcia, Gordon, Ullola, Blubaugh, McCullers, Alexander, and France.

Pick #s 5 and #6/long reliever from the rest. Possibly rotate them between Houston and Sugar Land.

13th spot goes to Ort or Neris until they sign Pressly* next week. He keeps the other 6 guys fresh.

*with Blanco and Wesneski on 60 day IL, Astros could potentially ask commissioner to make Pressly postseason eligible.

Once he clears waivers and becomes a FA, I fully expect the Astros to sign Pressly unless he refuses to return because they traded him.

I figured Pressly was the one asking for the trade after he got demoted. He tried to be a team player and take the 8th but it just wasn’t the same. Maybe now he’ll be more at easy not being the closer

So the guy on the team who is the most accomplished player in franchise history and also currently has the highest OPS on the team will remain an everyday player? Go figure.

The reason it comes up is because he's the worst defensive player on the team. If Yordan was back, it would cause real questions about where and if he belongs in the everyday lineup.

He is serviceable. Good bats get plate appearances
It's not like he is Bill Bergan.

Silly comment. It has never been a consideration for Altuve not to be in the every day lineup. Never.

    Agreed 100%

with the depth we have now, he should get more rest days and DH days. I think he has been forced to play a little too much at 35.

I loved the Dana hire. To pull what he pulled off without losing any of our top prospects was incredible. He has hit on almost everything he has done as our GM. So many “what have you done for me lately” idiots on this board. If we don’t go all the way, they will arise again and b**** that he didn’t do enough. Luhow said it, Crane said it. This team has one window and it is forever. We will be competitive every year. No more tanking as long as Crane is owner. Best FO in Houston sports history.

Not yet, no, but it will be soon.

He's an absolute liability in the field no matter what position he's at and while that doesn't currently matter with the injury issues the team is facing, at full strength it'll be hard to justify him in the lineup every game.

Full strength is likely not happening this season, but what about next season?

    Have him play catcher.
He would not even need to squat.

Sometimes I need a reminder why Bobby is on my ignore list. Altuve is not getting benched, full stop. Not this year, not next year either. This is a dumb topic.

He's a Hall of Famer and is going to have a statute outside of Daikan Park when he retires.

As long as Altuve is pulling his offensive weight he will be an every day player. Crazy to think of, but he is our best power hitter this year. If we didn’t have any injuries this year, he would still be playing everyday. Who knows about next year, that wasn’t what your original comment was about, but go ahead and move the goal posts like you have with Sheppard.

Getting a top 2 seed in the playoffs is important. 1.5 games out of the top seed. I have no desire to play a best of 3 series just because anything can happen.

The original comment was about why the question even comes up.

As of right now, Dubon has a better fWAR than Altuve. The only thing keeping Altuve in the lineup is his .800 OPS, that dips just a little bit and some guys get back healthy and he's not an everyday player anymore.

I'm not sure how that's controversial.

Stick to Basketball where you have at least have a little knowledge. Apache bailed or was banned pretty quickly after he started polluting the baseball forums. Maybe Stros4bros might agree with you. Same calibre of baseball knowledge.
