bring him back —> 60-day IL prospective to 1-AUG —> consult-work alongside Miller/Murphy —> get Astros marketing back by proxy (noDDecision) —> add to gem/ring collection
Easily our 3rd starter in the postseason if he keeps this up. I hope he doesn’t get hurt or hit a wall. We need this guy.
I feel bad for Brandon Walter. The amount of times he's pitched well but on days where the lineups are so bad and give little to NOTHING in terms of support. Dude deserves a healthy squad for once.
Walter's career high in innings pitched is 117 in 2023. He is already at 101.1 IP this season. It's going to be a problem.
Fortunately Javier and Arrighetti are back soon with Garcia following them. This should give us the ability to skip him a couple times.
Both Garcia and Javier have experience in the big leagues as RP. Javier probably has a better chance to come back and be a successful SP so I assume they’ll give him every chance to do that, but Garcia’s road back has been so rocky I am guessing they just want to get enough out of him to justify tendering him one last time this offseason.
I don't know if JV is done. But my opinion there is a real and significant chance that he is not any better than Gusto, Gordon, or Alexander. And we know that he isn't better than Brown, Framber, or Walter. I would bet on Arrighetti and Javier being better. And then there are Garcia, France, Blubaugh, and Ullola. There are enough options that the only reason to bring in another starter is if it is very very likely that he takes the ball every 6 days and gives the team a good chance to win everytime. Thats not 2025 Verlander.
I'd still take lance over JV That's how little I believe in JV right now Dude needed to work on a split , his arsenal has nothing right now
General question: How big of an issue would it be for players on our trading block to pass their physicals...?
Verlander needs an off-season to reinvent himself to be late stage (but not career dead) Greinke in being a crafty, wily, old vet.
