Saw late Neris and Hader warming up and right away wished we don't add on to 6-3 so Neris won't get a chance to fk this up. Hader's velo was concerning. Looked max effort grunting and 94mph. Dana has to stop this continuing trend of Joe using him often tied and for multiple innings. Everytime Im desperate and ready to give up on this team they just win and win with this rag tag team. Happy to be wrong .
Just keep treading water until we get healthy. I will say I am very concerned about Yordan. He may get back and that helps being he is left-handed, but I can see a sizeable dip in his power numbers if he is in any way tentative about his approach at the plate trying to protect his hand and attempting to deal with "THE PAIN" Would it be ridiculous to put Cam at 3rd base? Was this not his primary position before he landed in right field? I know it's a lot to place him there now that he is semi cemented to RF
How the Astros continue to win with this line up is CRAZY.........the juggling every day to field a team of Space Cowboys is NUTS. If they were on a horrible losing streak, you could almost deal with it knowing the effects of all the injuries, but they gut out another win with Brice stepping up last night. I am very concerned about Yordan and Peradus......if Yordan was 60% healed earlier how is he not back, the medical staff and how they "inform" us sucks.
Peña is close to coming back. Garcia and Javier are close. One of the 2 starters can replace Lance, hopefully
I've personally checked myself out due to 2011 type expectations. I don't like watching this team struggle. I have been so tied in emotionally since childhood. I know when to lock in and when to not now. 2010-14' I followed the minor league squad more than the actual team.
Cam should be able to play 3B everyday in the MLB ... and maybe emergency SS in a pinch. I suspect that the Astros like what they see with Cam in RF ... and there is no PT crunch in the Astros OF ... when/if Melton comes back ths season and Paredes is still on IR, the Astros might consider moving Cam back to 3B
Updated: July: McCormick August: Pena, Alvarez, Arrighetti, Javier, Garcia Sept: France, Melton, Paredes, Guillorme 2026 or later: Dezenzo, Rodgers, Blanco, Wesneski, Dubin, Leon
Cam is better than Tucker at 3rd base, just sayin. I have Cam's Bowmans 1st card........... Listed as a third baseman.
Hitters definitely have random down years, but these are some weird comparisons. Schmidt his .190 in his rookie year at age 23. He didn't have another season with sub-5 WAR until age 38, 15 years later. From age 22 to 31 (the first 10 years of his career), Yaz never had a bad season. After that, he declined and stayed declined for the rest of his career.
So the Stros are 2 games back from having the best record in MLB. Are we still wanting to trade Framber/Abreu/Hader etc... for prospects?
Poor Seattle. They were so proud of themselves for taking 2 out of 3 from us. But after last night, they are right back to where they started. 5 games back. Also, we are only 1 1/2 games back from the best record in the AL. #KeepTreadingWater
The wRC+ for the month of July are pretty encouraging overall: Altuve 202 Caratini 179 Walker 150 Matthews 130 Dubon 124 Trammell 117 Short 99 Only slumping players are Smith (72), Diaz (82), and Hummel (34).
You SHOULD be right and maybe you will end up being right - but my gut is that he gets less than that.
I’m more worried about his defense than his bat. He’s declined defensively in every metric since 2023. His pop time has gone from the 86th percentile down to the 16th - I mean he was consistently hosing runners in 2023. The blocking has gotten way worse and his framing has always been bad. His bat is still good for a catcher and he’s gotten a little bit unlucky so I still think he could return to being a good bat next season. The defense is an issue though…
