I don't really know who this Jordan Punn is,but his tweets seem to get around the NFL Draft twitterverse. I usually disagree with his takes. I never thought watching the UT defensive line that there was anyone on it better than Alfred Collins this past year. I do like Vernon Broughton, just don't think he made as much of a difference as Alfred Collins.
For fun I used 4 different simulators for Houston's top-4 picks. Here are the results. https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2025/...-value-mock-prospects-debate-32-round-1-picks 25. Houston Texans Miller's pick that fills a big need: Josh Simmons, OT, Ohio State Houston tore down its offensive line this offseason and began to rebuild it, but it's still lacking a long-term answer at left tackle. Cam Robinson was a good stop-gap signing, but Simmons could be a bookend for years to come. Reid's pick that gets best value: Grey Zabel, C/G, North Dakota State Zabel is the value pick because he can play everywhere. He's the No. 25 player on my board despite playing in the FCS and would provide a steady presence. His play strength and anchor project best along the interior. https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2025/...news-sanders-saints-browns-predictions-trades •One team constantly brought up as a trade-back candidate is the Atlanta Falcons at No. 15. General manager Terry Fontenot has traded back only once during his four-year tenure, but the team also has only five picks. In a deep class of edge rushers, Atlanta might feel comfortable with several options if they have similar grades on the team's board. Adding more draft capital and still being able to land DL help in, say, the early 20s could be appealing. •In talking to scouts, the closest positional rankings to sort out are likely in the tight end class. We all expect Tyler Warren and Colston Loveland to be the first two off the board -- perhaps both in the first half of Round 1 -- but a spirited debate has ensued about Mason Taylor (LSU) and Elijah Arroyo (Miami) as TE3. Taylor is the more well-rounded player with better blocking skills, while Arroyo is the more fluid and explosive option. The common sentiment from scouts is picking between the two will come down more to play-style preferences than talent. •As the draft approaches, Georgia center Jared Wilson is one of the hottest names in scouting communities. A one-year starter for the Bulldogs, he turned in an elite predraft circuit, including a ridiculous 4.84 in the 40-yard dash at 6-foot-3 and 310 pounds. Wilson also added a 32-inch vertical and a 9-foot-4 broad jump. His elite physical tools and agility show up on tape, putting him into late-Round 1 to early-Round 2 territory. •I've heard that the Kansas City Chiefs are actively looking to trade up in Round 1. They signed left tackle Jaylon Moore in free agency but were otherwise quiet, opting to re-sign their own versus hitting the open market. A move up in Round 1 would likely be for a long-term offensive tackle solution; I heard the goal would be to move in front of the Houston Texans (No. 25) and Los Angeles Rams (No. 26) if the Chiefs like a specific left tackle still on the board. •Speaking of trades, two teams that continue to come up as trade-back candidates are the Carolina Panthers (No. 8) and Minnesota Vikings (No. 24). The Panthers have nine total selections but could be tempted to trade back for more Day 2 picks, which they would use on the defensive line and at wide receiver. And Minnesota has the fewest picks this year with four, so it could be looking for more draft capital.
Broughton is a very underrated player, Collins is the better player. In this deep DT class Broughton will probably go in the 5th and have a long career. In a normal DT class he probably would go late 3rd.
Just wanted to pop in and say thanks to those of you who are digging in heavy, and providing those like me who are too lazy to do much research all of this information. You guys know who you are. Thank you. As for me I have never commented on this thread. But, I am freaked out by our first pick this year. It's pretty obvious we need OL, but with our recent track record it scares me. I know we need a WR as well, but I see evaluations all over the board with these guys. All I know is we will find out next Thursday night. PS my in-laws about ten strong are raging Eagles fans. They did grow up in Penn. They each pony up 50 bucks each and whoever gets the first pick of the Eagles correct get the cash. They use a randomizer to determine who gets what order of the pick.
I wouldn't hate this draft: 25.Grey Zabel OG North Dakota State 58.Marcus Mbow OT Purdue 79.Jack Bech WR TCU 89.Shemar Turner DT Texas A&M 166.Jack Nelson OT Wisconsin 236.Jaydon Blue RB Texas 241.Thomas Fidone TE Nebraska
Not sure if this is going to be allowed to be pasted but I'll follow it with the run down of the mock I made from PFF: 25: Kelvin Banks Jr., OT 58: Omar Norman-Lott, DT 79: Kevin Winston Jr., S 89: Jaylin Noel, WR The overall grades for each were A and A+, all around, based on team needs a player ranking which is great but if we truly walk away from the first 3 rounds of the draft in this position I would be in a really good place about our overall haul. I would love to try and trade up to nab Noel's teammate Higgins who's going in the early to mid 2nd round but if his teammate is there, who also provides return ability, I would be pretty content. There's a good amount of solid WR help still after the first two rounds, so if we wait on that pick for a bit, I'm not planning on panicking.
Next year's 2nd and moving back from 79 or 89 to their 118. Can't give away too many picks, these young guys will be called on to replace the veterans we have signed early on in CJ's career with the extra money saved at QB.
If there’s a player they absolutely love at 15, I’d understand them making the move. But personally, I’m not too thrilled about trading up in the first round for anyone. Maybe Campbell or Warren. I’m perfectly fine staying at 25. What I’d really love is a move into the early second round using 2026 assets
I'm thinking of something like the Texans determining Booker was so much better than Banks that he is not likely to get past 15 and worth more than Zabel AND Mbow. I'm not there, but I'm not privy to their interviews and exhaustive tape analysis.
