I think in all likelihood it will be either Banks, Booker or Zabel. Banks would play guard next year, and would possibly move to Tackle the following year. The Texans have too many Tackles on the roster. I'm not as high on Banks as I am on Booker and Zabel, but I understand that he's a clean prospect that can also play tackle. Booker and Zabel are special and will be Pro Bowl caliber type players. I like Donovan Jackson and believe he will be a solid starter for the next 10 years and would be a great fall back or trade back option if the other three players are off the board. The Texans aren't taking a DT in the 1st round. I've gone down the path of researching and watching tape of all top 30 DT's in the draft. There is just not the immediate need of taking a DT early as much as a Guard. Guard is easily the weakest position on the roster. The way the draft is lining up there are going to be really great Guard options around pick 25 that won't be there at pick 58. On the other hand there will be really good scheme fit DT's in the 2nd and 3rd round. Drafting a Kenneth Grant or Walter Nolen won't improve the roster as much as drafting a Grey Zabel or Tyler Booker. In fact, Walter Nolen and Kenneth Grant won't get that many reps because they will be competing for spots with Tim Settle and Sheldon Rankins.
But seriously, we don't know about Fisher, Juice or Patterson. If they continue to develop, no need for memes
My order from this list only: OG/T Kelvin Banks Jr. OG/T Donovan Jackson OG Tyler Booker IOL Grey Zabel OT Josh Conerly Jr. WR Matthew Golden WR Emeka Egbuka DT Walter Nolen DT Kenneth Grant I really wanted a WR but looks like OL will be flying off the board early. Not into trading up but I'd be happy if we used the Commanders 2nd to move up. I'm also out on Josh Simmons due to hearing about his work ethic and Tunsil-like character.
https://bleacherreport.com/articles...ctions-based-latest-br-scouting-dept-rankings B/R 3-Round Mock: 25: WR Matthew Golden 58: RB Kaleb Johnson 79: DL Jordan Phillips 89: OT Cameron Williams
Mock I got on ESPN this morning. Made about 4-5 trades, only major capital given was one of next year's 4th, most trades were moving up a round or 2 in the lower picks to go down 5 spots or so. 32 Josh Conerly, Jr OT 50 Mason Taylor TE 74 TJ Sanders DT 89 Kyle Williams WR 116 Wyatt Milum OG 134 Bhayshul Tuten RB 150 Demetrius Knight LB 161 Pat Bryant WR 230 Shamari Simmons DB I know we aren't very likely to take 9 players given the current roster crunch, so could prob mock the 7th to be traded for a pick next year. I would be ecstatic with this draft FWIW. Developmental tackle only prospect that could beat out the starters, a ready to go guard to provide competition that could slide to tackle if needed. Balanced TE that prob is a year away from being a major contributor, but gives you a good core with Stover next year when Schultz is prob gone. Speedy RB and WR. Knight profiles as a potential replacement for Al-Shaair down the road. Sanders goes right into a deep rotation at DT with the likelihood of contributing on passing downs. Bryant will compete with X for backup roles outside, could be deadly in 4 WR group as he made his hay on 3rd downs in college and Williams/Kirk are both better served inside.
Exactly, I've got very little faith in Scruggs because of his injury history and the fact that he's not to bright. Patterson and Fisher give me hope, although both can be upgraded upon.
I would put Conerly 1st and Booker last. What I would consider a home run to be drafting Golden and trading 2-58 and a future pick to move up for Tate Ratledge.
Would be 100% fine with Conerly. Especially since I would love for him to start at LG. I feel like we have a ton of Tackles with most on one year deals. 2026 he can move to LT. I believe he'll be there at 58.
Now compare him to McConkey as a prospect, which is why I have a hard time pulling the trigger on him at 25.
