Even after giving up 54 sacks in 2024 (tied for third most), Houston traded away its best offensive lineman in left tackle Laremy Tunsil. That's why this pick is easy for me. Simmons has smooth movement traits, and he allowed one sack over 19 starts since shifting to left tackle before the 2023 season.

The only reason I don't have him coming off the board earlier is his knee injury. He went down in October and missed the rest of the season, and he hasn't yet worked out. But once he's healthy, he could step into that LT void and try to turn around the pass protection in Houston.

Two rbs in the top 12? 3 qbs in the top 10? If will Campbell slides that far, you should go up and get him

 

I would take Banks over Simmons

 

I wonder if the Texans will take an edge rusher early to replace Danielle Hunter (same reason they took Fisher, they can't pay Hunter like they couldn't pay Tunsil)

 

Why is Kelvin Banks slipping? He was a top 10 lock (at worst, top 13 to Miami). Have to move inside to guard? (Now he ultimately may not slip. After all, these are just mocks.)

Previously, I had mocked Ohio State WR Emeka Egbuka to the Texans, but with the departure of Laremy Tunsil, it feels like the offensive line has moved to the top of the priority list.

If McMillan is that close to #25 then Nick definitely should move up.

 

Interesting; Mel and DJ both have Booker slipping out of the first round

 

An issue I seem to run into on mocks now is all offensive weapons I would like are gone by 25. Golden and the others are gone with the exception of Emeka. Loveland, Banks and Booker gone. Luther and Trey are still there but, IDK? My strategy of getting a solid weapon and then trading back up for Zabel or jackson is getting all screwed up. Got to figure something else out.

 

Jayden Higgins is always there in the second when I do them. I'd be ok with that.
