This roster looks so much better with FVV off of it. Would love to see Amen at point & KD at small forward on that roster if anything

I like him at #10 if the shooters are gone. To your earlier point, granted Bari and Reed’s long range shooting didn’t translate the rookie year, but I honestly believe Bari will shoot it at a high level going forward; we’ve seen the improvement. And I’m convinced Reed will shoot well in his 2nd season. But I take your point; the top college shooting prospects haven’t translated seamlessly to the nba. I just think Bari and Reed will ultimately turn out to be really good shooters.

He's not my favorite prospect at that spot, but I wouldn't be upset if we took him.

I agree with you though about his shooting. I will say, his form doesn't look bad at all and I wouldn't expect him to be an immediate contributor.

What I do like about him is his ball handling, smoothness and ability to pass while being 6'9 ish...

And of course we would be able to say "Demin Time"...

And right now my favorite prospect for us didn't exactly light it up from 3 but he did shoot a lot of tough shots and almost exclusively generated his own looks.

I think Demin is an interesting prospect but doubt he gets burn on the Rockets.

Any prospect you think the Rockets would seriously consider, must, and when I say must, I mean MUST, play defense. Period. No ifs ands or buts. MUST play defense first.

Think about that before nominating anyone to be drafted.

Carter Bryant is a bit of a reach, but he is a 3/D player.

I feel like the small sample size is really tough with him because he didn’t play that much. But when u watch him he just looks like one of those real 2-way talents. His defense, especially on the perimeter, is already really good. He’s 6’8” in shoes with a 7ft wingspan. And yes this is a guy who only played 19 min a game, but averaged 2 stocks; shot 37% from 3 on low volume.

it’s just really hard to know if you can project those numbers to the next level because he played so few minutes. So hard to know if the shooting efficiency is real at higher volume. If it is, watch out. To me he passes the eye test and I think at #10 in this draft, he has to be in the conversation. It’s really all eye of the beholder past 6 or 7 in this draft.

You never really know who's a reach now or not. Sengun would have seemed like a reach at 10 but hindsight he's #1 or 2 in a redraft. This dude Bryant could be the prize of the draft.

    Trade Ideas:

#10, Jock Landale and Reed Sheppard for #19 and Cameron Johnson
#10, Jock Landale and Reed Sheppard for #21 and John Collins
#10, Tari Eason, Jock Landale and Reed Sheppard for Derrick White

If anything it would be funny to see 6'9 Demin start and then 6'1.75 Reed be his backup.

Here's a nice quote from the No Ceilings Write-up on Carter Bryant:

Bryant’s most common play type is spotting up, where he scored 1.043 points per possession (PPP) (71st percentile). Additionally, 82.2% of his shots came shooting off the catch. In these situations, Bryant scored 1.09 PPP (66th percentile). What’s more encouraging is that Bryant didn’t exclusively rely on wide-open looks. In fact, 75.7% of his shots off the catch came when guarded (97th percentile), and he ranked in the 61st percentile in PPP. When unguarded, Bryant ranked in the 77th percentile in shooting off the catch. What that tells us is that Bryant is confident shooting off the catch, isn’t deterred by a defender’s presence, and was thrown a lot of last-second grenades. All of these factors suggest positive growth for him as a shooter going forward.
Spot-up shots would be what Bryant would be getting, and he would add shot-altering perimeter D. If you take this route, I'd move Brooks ASAP.

Draft night trade chatter: Keep tabs on the back half of the lottery

Since Monday's lottery drawing, most trade speculation has focused on the top three picks in the 2025 draft, held by Dallas, the San Antonio Spurs and the Philadelphia 76ers.

Would one of those teams trade a juicy pick for a star such as the Milwaukee Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo?

Those rumors have masked more likely trade scenarios, however. Chatter at the combine points to Houston (picking 10th), Portland (at No. 11) and San Antonio (picking again at 14th) as teams willing to shop picks in the back half of the lottery for win-now upgrades.

Houston, of course, just took the West's No. 2 seed and already has too many young promising players to fit into its rotation, meaning it might not be incentivized to add another.

I like the second and third option, although it would take more for Derrick I’m afraid. I’m not giving up the #10 picks for Cameron Johnson much less Reed Sheppard as well.

Looks like a push shoot to me. Surprised me to see this form from consensus #2 pick.

@Aruba77 you're one of my favorite posters, but on this one you need to dig deeper to find the diamond. Egor hurt his knee and missed some time https://www.babcockhoops.com/post/getting-a-second-look-at-byu-s-egor-demin . This article is a pretty balanced look at before and after the injury. He seems to have lost more than time with his injury as his confidence was also shaken, but this kid was the first Russian invited to Real Madrid's Academy and excelled there.

He's not a perfect prospect (few are), but he's super intriguing given his size and elite passing skill set. Look at his shooting prior to the Dec 3rd (injury game) and his stats look pretty good.

He's young and can work on his lateral quickness and gain strength. I shared this video earlier, but it's worth the watch...
