I was ok with letting Udoka play it out in the postseason this year. Not next year. I saw enough. Somebody has to shoot threes. Hope whoever runs the Rockets agrees.

This is why I was in the camp of make a move at the deadline. We knew we needed a go to scorer and holding on to assets like picks in the hopes you get a top pick is not worth it.

If drafting a pg makes no sense why are you bringing up Walter Clayton Jr?

I share your pessimism. There is something awful going on. I have said this elsewhere, but, I must repeat something. The integration of money is college sports may be nothing new, but it is making the core values of sports completely unrecognizable. The rise of gambling in American pro sports is going to make things even worse.

The NBA getting in bed with gambling is bad for society, not just the integrity of the league. Gambling ruins people. The gambling world, and people like Tilman Fertitta and the current owners of the Mavericks have the morals of pimps and degenerates. By proxy, so does the NBA now. The media who are selling this app gambling nonsense more than the games themselves are complicit, too. These are people who are essentially giving out free crack samples at the playground where impressionable young men who follow sports are handed the pipe.
    It's bad.

So, for those of you who wonder why so many people are having conspiracy thoughts with the lottery draw today, at some core level, people are expecting the rot to be setting in for good.
It's happening everywhere else right now.

Because I don't know how serious are we about developing Reed. Does Udoka continue to play him even if he makes mistake or continue to play him even if cost us the game? This is assume we are keeping FVV. And I don't have high hope on Reed. I don't think he's ready.

It's abysmal. I am down on their chances right now. Their trade assets are not as good as we think. Their talent, full stop, has a ceiling, in my opinion.
Udoka squeezed over 50 wins by getting them to play hard and lock in on defense. That's regular season magic. We saw what happened in the playoffs.
The Rockets are just as likely to follow teams like Sacramento and Memphis down to mediocre valley. It's easy to play well when the expectations are low. When the pressue is off. That's the James Harden way.
They have zero players who don't have big, fat question marks on their top end potential. Are there *any* players we can project as the kind of players that are #1, or #2 options on a championship team?

I'm not really sure it will help or not, but I think that capping the downside for a terrible team will help to minimize the length of years that they spend in the lottery before making the playoffs.

The NFL's parity keeps fans interested, so if the NBA can increase that parity a bit, the fanbase will have a higher level of commitment, believing that they can get a young superstar in the top 3 picks.

I'd say that a general rough goal should be to give a bottom 3 lottery team enough help (via the odds) to get them into the play-in game in maybe 3-4 years (is that reasonable?).

Another goal should be to do it live so that everyone can see that the process is truly random and not tampered with or re-run multiple times until the NBA's desired result occurs. I would hope at a minimum this happens next year.

I'll take Collin Murray since my originals Kon and Fears are now going sooner.

Collins is a big body that likes setting screens and offball screens while directing players. 57 percent fg. He reminds me of a better Draymond Green that likes driving to the rim and can finish either hand. Could be Sengun's sub or pf helper.

i agree. Get another Udoka type player to continue bringing defense in waves even off the bench. Trade for a legitimate shooter in his 20’s while getting more shots for Jabari and hopefully much more playing time for Reed. Someone like Cam Johnson. Then if what people think is Booker is coming to Houston. Well in 2 years this is your lineup.

    Sheppard Whitmore
    Booker Johnson
    Thompson Eason
    Jabari Collin Murray
    Sengun Adams

And once players get their fat contracts, their performances tend to drop off......it is sad but incoming.

really like CMB, he’s a lot like Tari. I’d take him at #9 if he’s BPA, but he’s another undersized defense guy that can’t shoot.

Our biggest weakness is the PF and backcourt positions. We can fix the backcourt position by just letting go of Jalen and FVV.

Our Dallas pick became less valuable though.

I'm going to assume you're still in shock over the lottery results and not in your right mind. Nobody with the username PatBev would want to see FVV + Brooks traded for tissue soft Durant. Trade the two toughest guys on our team for, quite possibly, the softest guy in the league?

    Really horrible outcome..

    Texas rivals got significantly better
    Mavs pick got significantly worse
    Own pick dropped one spot

only prize is the Nets swap value marginally got better.

    Tough pill to swallow.
