The other thing I think people might be overlooking is the fact that Pena will need rest. He isn’t going to be 100% comfortable as those type of injuries can still linger regardless if the fracture is healed. Dubon can fill in at third and Correa can step in to help at SS. The goal is to get a top 2 seed to get a bi and avoid playing in the wild card. This team was humming with Paredes and no Yordan. This team has struggled without Paredes. If they can get Correa, it changes the landscape for this year and 2026. As for Yordan, idk what to really expect from him this year, and I think the organization is probably in that same boat. Hand issues like he has right now are tricky, and they may end up having some type of surgery during the offseason. I believe the overall goal is how does this organization keep this team in contention for a top two seed without burning out players before the playoffs. The AL is so wide open that I hope Crane swings for the fences. If you can get to the World Series, anything can happen.
Heyman & Passan can lick each other’s taints. “First to break the news jabronis”… I believe the deal is as good as done, just ironing out the kinks. Correa will be coming back & it wont be some 9pm or 11:59pm buzzer-beater tomorrow. And I am pumped for this!
I think both of those dudes are just going to say whatever. I think we will get him back too. Let's go!
Well if he does come back, it will be great to see him pad his Astros all time stats. It’s gonna be lonely for Altuve all by his lonesome for this era next to Bagwell and Biggio. With another 2 or 3 year of solid play, Correa can put up some great all time numbers. While still being good enough to help his team contend for another title.
I think Ullola is a very good pitching prospect, probably the best in Houston’s entire farm system. There are probably only 40-50 pitching prospects in all of baseball who boast the ceiling he has. He is valuable. But getting apoplectic at the idea of trading him for a very good major league player to improve the big league roster while they are leading their division is silly. He is a very good pitching prospect; that gives him about a 5% chance of being the kind of player teams truly lament trading away. It’s not like he’s 2013 Carlos Correa or 2016 Alex Bregman, some can’t miss future superstar that the team would be idiotic to trade.
I’m ok with Correa if we add a LH bat as well. Still prefer two LH bats (one with some pop) Castro/Lowe make more sense to me. Not sold on Alvarez returning or returning to form in 2025.
Willie Castro was just pulled in the 9th inning; hugging teammates & had a long talk with Correa before heading to locker room.
From Rotoworld: “Willi Castro was lifted from Wednesday’s game against the Red Sox in the ninth inning. It was an 8-1 game, but this very much looks like a trade situation, as Castro took the field and then was lifted. The Mariners and Astros are among the teams reported to be interested in Castro. His exit would open up a spot for Luke Keaschall to rejoin the Twins, though maybe not immediately.”- 4min ago
Ooof. That is a boatload to give up. Would need to see how much money Twins are eating. Janek for Castro is ok. Matthews and Melton for Ryan is ok. So Twins would have to eat enough money to make Correa worth Arrighetti and Ullola. I’d say $40M.
