I actually don't think Minnesota would do that, Ryan is making 3 Million this year and has two more years of Arb Arrighetti Brice Janek Ullola That would get their attention
Unlike other years, these bats need to be everyday bats, which I suspect will cost more than the other trades from past years. I get this .. but ... can Cease hit cleanup? If not, the Astros would have just another SP who can a lose a game 2-1.
Why wouldn't we be on the hook for 27 salaries? the players will take half the season off and the teams will pay them for the full season to get them back.
Here's one for ya Cubs get: Framber, Robert Suarez Padres get: Kevin Alcantara from Cubs, Janek and Ullola from Astros Astros get: M Shaw, Cease Cubs are all in for this year, they get Framber to front the rotation and a true closer to solidify the pen Padres get the CF they covet in Alcantara, as well as a catching and SP prospect Astros flip Framber for an SP having a rough year but who could be just as good as Framber with the right adjustments, and a potential stud 3B
Bad trade for Houston. If Cease had another year then it might make sense. Essentially they’re trading Framber for Cease, then Ullola/Janek for Shaw, neither of those are good trades.
2 of Matthews, Ullola, Janek, Melton, or Arrighetti for an SP3 or core hitter 1 of Whitcomb, Sullivan, Mayer, Pecko, Santa, Blubaugh, Nezuh, or Fleury for a rental setup man 1 of that same group for a rental complimentary bat
Cease is signed through next season……EDIT: Yahoo told me that. Apparently, yahoo is wrong. Cease signed 1-year deal w/ Padres for this season only
Severino is the SP that I like and think would be cheap enough Correa for nostalgia purposes and I think he will be cheap At this point our current record doesn't do anything for me We are down yordan , paredes , Pena , Meyers and more We don't have enough to content unless we get lucky with guys coming back I don't think brown is an ace , only framber I'm not willing to trade much future value for mediocre players
I assume in the 2 of line you mean someone with club control? How much? I’d want it through 27. That’s when **** gets real for us and we lose Peña, Paredes, Javier, Walker and maybe someone I’m forgetting.
I'd trade Ullola and Janek for Shaw in a heartbeat I don't think there is any way the Cubs would do that actually. I know Shaw hasn't been real good this year, but as we both know most rookies aren't. He is still 23 years old and MLB organizations aren't going to greatly change their view of a player in his first couple hundred at bats, especially if he isn't just totally overwhelmed like Shaw. He also has been smoking the ball since the ASB
This trade was done between games of a double header while playing the opponent. Dominguez was available to pitch for Baltimore in the first game and is going to be on the roster for Toronto in the evening game. Too bad he didn't pitch in the first game - I assume there's never been a player who played for two different teams on the same day. He could have been a bit of MLB history trivia.
I believe it has happened. A catcher in the last few years. https://www.mlb.com/news/danny-jansen-plays-for-two-teams-in-same-game
Slightly different scenario, but also very cool. He played for both teams in a single game - but on separate days (though I guess in the record books, it would show up as the same day). I hadn't heard about this one!
