I don't listen to flunkies who toot each others horns. I said the Astros would have trouble signing Jeremy Pena (turned down $105/5 yrs) switched to Boras (agent) and Framber (Burnes and Fried got $200+ million and Astros won't sign him) Just like the Astros didn't sign Bregman and Tucker. Astros used Tucker to find Bregman''s replacement, just like Framber could (I repeat could......coooould) to find Pena's replacement. I haven't changed anything: nothing affirmative, from the moment I posted it's been "could" "i doubt the Astros will sign them" "Astros might walk away with nothing as when Bregman walked last season.". Geez you'all are brain dead. I repeat, I could see Framber being used in trade. Brendan Rodgers Whitcomb Hummel Melton People don't like they can bite me.
Tigers got Paddack and Dobnak for their FCL C prospect who is in the 10-20 range of their system. Excellent deal for Detroit.
Not necessarily. The world is full of shades of grey. I don’t think there’s some smoking gun that says Yordan is finished. If there is then they should just say so. I’m sure it’s more likely than not you look at the Medicaid and say, eh, maybe he’s ok and maybe he isn’t. And maybe he’s worth more to Cleveland because they are cheap as ****, have lacked thump in this current iteration, don’t have a World Series since 1948 and think they can fix Yordan because the Houston medical team is run by total and complete clowns, and furthermore, they aren’t going anywhere with this roster of players, they aren’t making the playoffs this year with him and then they will have him for 2 years whereby he and Ramirez won’t ever win **** or contend for a WS hit a healthy Yordan and Ramirez would have a shot to get it done.
The fact that you think anyone wants to trade for Brendan Roger’s or Hummel is absolutely wild and might mean you literally kick the paint off walls. I won’t put anything past you.
I only see the Astros as all in buyers if they decide to ignore the penalty and the future Not really in keeping with our M.O. and I do not expect it. I see the Astros as moderate buyers if they decide to compete while sticking with keeping payroll under the penalty. What we have been lead to expect. Selective sellers if there is no way to be competitive without going over the penalty. Playoffs unlikely but possible. What I am beginning to expect. I do not see the Astros as all in sellers under any circumstance.
Heard but if Alvarez and Isaac aren’t coming back, aren’t we pretty much just dead in the water? Also, I have a question about Suarez. I know he’s a rental but as far as If we were to acquire him with the intention of trying to keep him for a few years, what would be the type of contract he would get? Also Nook, what do you think the prospect cost for Suarez would be?
Pretty solid guesses. I think with a new extension, Hoyer is more likely to take chances this deadline.
Another 34-year-old corner infielder signed to a three year contract just in time to lose his ability to hit? I'm hoping it would be a market price too steep to match. I'd like to see the Astros pursue guys with a little more left in the tank.
If both Paredes and Alvarez are out it just means they need to add 2 bats instead of just one, and/or they need a young upside guy to break out. SS Pena DH Altuve 3B TBD trade LF/2B TBD trade 1B Walker RF Smith C Caratini/Diaz CF Trammell/Meyers/Melton/Dubon 2B/LF Matthews/Melton/Dubon/Trammell/Hummel That lineup carries risk but has a lot of upside and if the right guys get hot they could make a run.
Are we dead in the water without Alvarez and Paredes? Well we have been without Alvarez all year and are doing well. Are we okay missing Paredes as well? I think it depends on what else they get at the deadline - but the question is a fair one and it is one that the owner is deciding. As for Suarez, I have to think that someone will over pay him this off season and it likely wouldn't be the Astros because Suarez has been so up and down in his career. The trade cost IMO would be cost prohibitive from my perspective, but it could be as high as someone like Matthews.
Shaw has been ripping the cover off the ball I can't see them giving up assets to add a 3B and put him on the bench
Only way it's possible is if at least one of those guys is a "name" player that Crane really likes, cause there is no way to add two guys who would hit 3rd and 4th without going well over the tax
His recent numbers look good but the exit velos still suck. I think he's gotten BABIP lucky and isn't actually good.
