Nope. 2023 and 2024 were Arb years. 2025 is his last arbitration year before hitting FA in the offseason. *That's* why they traded him.
Question I asked: "Did Kyle Tucker go to arbitration last winter?" AI Overview +2 No, Kyle Tucker did not go to arbitration last winter. He and the Chicago Cubs agreed on a one-year, $16.5 million contract to avoid arbitration. The agreement was reached on January 16, 2025. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/...off-to-rocky-negotiating-start-with-new-star/ The Internet is forever
Astros wanted to traded Tucker with one year left of team control. Astros think they didn't couldn't keep him after this season and felt that they wanted to get something for him. Framber is a FA too next year but FO thought keeping him even in a walk year. Tired of beating this dead horse
Crane & his investors should just let they nuts hang & go out and get (take on contracts) of the top 2-3 players available (or “unavailable”) — for this team. right now. all players / trade packages considered. from both sides of the ball …. excluding locked down, “core/face” of franchise guys (committed, talented, winners).
We have the bullets to trade for 2/3 players, 1/2 if they are stars. We are missing 18 with 12 possibly returning. In the very best case we will go into the final days of the season 3 positions short. Possibly as many as 5. Can somebody please check my math? My head is numb and I do not trust it.
Dude...learn. 3 years of cheap contract, 3 years of Arbitration (some exceptions, but none apply here) The Astros and Tucker mutually settled their arbitration case before it went to a full hearing, twice: both in 2023 and 2024. The Cubs settled his last arbitration contract before it went to a full hearing, this winter (2025) He is a FA after this season. I'm perplexed at how you're confused about this.
If Cam is about to be out long term Might be at the point where it isn't even smart to trade away prospect capital
If we were to bring in Suarez from Arizona… 1. What would it cost prospect wise? 2. I seem to remember Paredes Being pretty versatile what other positions can he play?
Rockies get: Whitcomb, Jose Fleury Astros get: Tyler Freeman Freeman is young, controllable, cost affordable and versitle. Not a lot of ceiling, but he makes contact and gets on base
You cannot disagree on facts. The Astros traded Tucker before his last arbitration year. That’s just a fact - it is also a fact that the Cubs made a deal to avoid the actual arbiter. But to say the Astros traded hint to avoid arbitration or to avoid paying him $17M this year is just ridiculous. They traded him because they weren’t going to resign him AFTER his arbitration years. The trade was more valuable than one year of Tucker. For Framber, on the other hand, they decided one year of him was more valuable than the trade. This isn’t that hard.
