I think it would be more likely Correa plays 2B when Paredes returns. Don’t see any of this happening though.
That dude is full of **** and kind of a maniac. Predict is the right word, I don’t think he has any inside intel
Yeah this is total bullshit. I’m so sure Jim Crane was going around Palm Beach back in March telling people “I want to trade for Correa”.
In a couple of weeks we will have more starters than you can shake a stick at. We have a rookie that is as good as any one we could trade for at second base. We have one of the best bats in the league at DH (who can also play a little second base) with Altuve. The Team probably knows or at least has a good idea if we are going to get our play-off LF, Alvarez and when our starter at SS Pena will be back. The only real unknown at this point is third base. I see a rental at third as the #1 priority, preferably a switch hitter. A right handed bullpen guy with the chops to play in the seventh inning is my #2 priority. We have a RH and a LH bat at first base. I would like to improve one of them and that is my last deadline wish, it is unlikely but may fall in our laps.
They wouldn't have to eat much salary for Correa to make sense. Maybe 10 million for the next 3 guaranteed seasons. The real issue is staying the below the tax this season. We don't have any short term contracts that we can get them to eat.
Arrighetti is the only one I have a bit of faith in. Javier, garcia, France, McCullers, Gordon...forget it. We are going to regret rolling out gusto and Gordon and Alexander two or three times a week if we don't get an innings ester. We are guaranteeing losses in many instances.
I am fine with our regular season starting pitching. We need three or four guys to love in the play off rotation and maybe one to like. We have the best team in the league as is. Don't worry.
I didn’t personally watch it… but apparently Paredes did an IG live last night (while getting his hair highlighted) and said he thinks he’s going to be out for “months”. To me, sounds like he has some type of tear in his hamstring which may explain why they may be interested in a Suarez trade.
This is what makes it so hard to predict what we will do. Dana and the FO have a pretty good idea of who will and will not be back and generally when, but we have no clue
Or it would mean they do not think Yordan will be back, or at least he won't be back to his normal level, this year
Yeah I agree that it sounds ridiculous and most likely isn’t true, but that dude was the first guy I remember saying that the Astros were looking to bring Verlander back in 23 at the trade deadline, so who knows?
Yeah I would believe at some point that dude got some legit info. I just don’t at all believe that Jim Crane would be talking openly (“harping”) about bringing back Carlos Correa. I will say this, in my opinion Jim Crane is the most accessible owner in sports. Dude is oddly very reachable and responsive; or at least he was up until last year.
We can scratch Jarren Duran off: the Padres offered Boston a three-player package of right-hander Dylan Cease, top catching prospect Ethan Salas, and an additional prospect not named Leo De Vries that was “quickly rejected.” https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/07/red-sox-unlikely-to-trade-jarren-duran-this-summer.html Thats a huge haul. Salas is an MLB top 30 prospect and Cease is a rental ToR SP. Houston isn’t going to offer anything close to that.
I was in the spaces when he originally spoke about the Correa rumor. The way it was presented at the time was that the Twins made it known that they were open to trading Correa and trying to get off (most) of his contract. Since Correa has a NTC he went to the Twins and told them that they’re wasting their time trying to trade him as there is only 1 team he would willingly accept a trade to- which is the Astros. At first- the only part about Crane that was mentioned was that he was “receptive” to the idea. Now he’s saying that he’s been “harping” on it since the Spring. Do with that information what you will.
I generally agree BUT It's possible Boston will only move him for controllable SP, which is easily their biggest need Who knows how other teams feel about certain players, but it's possible they see Arrighetti as a guy who could be a long term #2 behind Crochet Arrighetti, Javier, Prospect for Duran Not saying it's at all likely cause it isn't, but i'd do that
Astros get: Carlos Correa Willi Castro $40M ($10M/yr from 2025-2028) Twins get: 2B Brice Matthews P Miguel Ullola (captip to Wulaw and Nook) OF Shay Whitcomb OF Chas McCormick Playoff lineup: SS Pena LF Altuve 3B Correa DH Alvarez 1B Walker 2B Castro RF Smith C Diaz CF Trammell/Melton/Dubon/Meyers Next season Paredes replaces Castro and Houston runs it back with a stacked lineup.
I don't think Correa has enough excess value to bring back that type of package? He has 3 years and roughly 100 million left on his deal (he isn't reaching the 575 at bats in 2028 to make the option vest) He has been an average offensive player this year, and while he had a great year last year for the 86 games he was healthy enough to play, he was just a little above average in 2023 like this year I think if Minnesota was moving him it would be more to get out from under most of the salary If they were willing to eat a bit of the salary and we sent Javier to them in the deal, it might be possible to acquire him and stay under the tax for this year Javier Ullola Chas
Has Correa ever played 3B…? The rumors around Ozzie Albies are interesting. Down year, if we can get him for something reasonable that could be an interesting add. im not that interested in Suarez. Seems odd to pay top dollar when we have Paredes long-term. Quite the long-jam when he returns unless we slot him at 2B. I can’t see us adding major salary with us being so close to the tax, and not sure what salary we could reasonably dump to bring in any top dollar guys. seems like a relatively weak deadline as far as top end supply is concerned, at least in the areas of our need
